Before Buhari became president and long time ago during the military Regimes of the past Fulani herdsmen move about grazing with out destroying crops and killing people, infact Fulani herdsmen go about their business unnoticed because of their kindness and carefulness not to do damage.

Upon the enthronement of their grand patron Muhammadu Buhari as president, holla! they threw caution to the wind and graze on farms and destroy lives unchallenged with reckless abandon because their patron is president and the whole landscape of Nigeria their grazing field. To make matters worse the president protects them and allow them to carryout jihad in disguise.

Nigerians must raise against this serious threat.
That is not necessarily true.

In 1993, for instance, a Borno farmer was shot in the eye by Fulani herdsmen.....and he died several days later.

The crisis has been ongoing for decades. What's changed is easy access to weapons, and the increasing population. In 1991, there were 89 million Nigerians (Fulanis inclusive) Now there are 193.3 million nigerians On the same piece of land....with the same archaic farming and cattle ehrding practices. Something's got to give.

Sentiments aside, 90% of people just sit down in their homes and pass a guilty verdict on the herdsmen. Yes there are stories about herdsmen allowing their cattle to trample upon farmlands and there are stories about herdsmen killing villagers but there are also stories about villagers hijacking cattle and killing them for meat and also villagers killing herdsmen over arguments. At the risk of sounding very very politically incorrect, I would say that much of the crimes committed against herdsmen go unreported and unpublicized while much of those committed by the herdsmen get publicized. Nevertheless the security guys must be more proactive to stop the killing of anybody. Anyone who kills in the name of herdsmen, farmers crisis should be hanged.
Cattles are not supposed to be roaming the street in the first instance. Do you know that the FCT Minister banned street grazing in Abuja but your herdsmen failed to obey? If these herdsmen/terrorists can disregard government order, don't you think how they will oppress individuals in their farms? If you're not one of them, I pray their activities affect you or your loved one soon enough.

This group exists because you people love your beef. Majority of the beef you eat is reared in this fashion.

It is extremely hypocritical to have this stance yet still munch on beef Suya. It's exactly the same as criticizing violence in Sierra Leone and still buying up tons of Blood Diamonds.
Lol. Your statement implies Fulani are the only ones capable of rearing cows.

This inefficiently run business of theirs wouldn't survive modern day competition. Nothing stops southern state governments to go into pig, cow, poultry etc farming on a large scale.

The only reason these fuckers are in business is because southerners are foolish people who would rather fight each other than come together and work towards a sustainable knowledge based society.

Fulani using Buhari wants to dominate the country. Buhari only complains when Fulanis are weak. See below.

A call for peace is good but justice supersedes all persons involve in murder should be prosecuted and apportioned the right weight of the law. It would serve as a deterrent.

As someone rightly told you...you have no idea of what you claim to know abt the scenerio you pointed out...Have you ever given it a thought why "fulani" hardly have fracas with communities up north except Christian dominanted communities especially around the middle belt region?.....Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano are also agrarian states in their own respect, why don't we hear fulani and Moslem locals fracas.
.
Lemme tell you an open secret....There is an agenda to either annihilate these ethnic minorities, make them politically and economically irrelevant....What you don't knw is that...Once dis folks sees you as an infidel, it is already a license to kill at will.
Actually, they do.

Farmers, herdsmen clash in Sokoto

Another clash in another area of Sokoto.

Fulanis have also been targeted by Boko Haram....especially in attacks on cattle markets in Borno

did the so called population increase happened on 29 May 2015?

Fulani herdsmen became emboldened to kill Nigerians because their grand patron Buhari is shielding them.

up till date no single herdsman has been apprehended ever since they started killing Nigerians in their hundreds all over the country.

I am a southerner. I agree with your statements above that nothing stops southern state governments to go into large scale cattle farming. I also agree with you that southerners are very foolish despite having more western education than the northerners.

Dear Nigerians, one thing is very clear from all that has been said so far, Normardic agric by the Fulani herdsmen will no longer work in Nigeria. The present government have being trying so hard to settle Fulani all over Nigeria. That is going to bring more problem as we can see even in Kaduna and Jos that are northern part of the country. We know it is the tradition of the Fulani herdsmen to move around with their cattle, this was working in the past but suddenly, it will not work any longer. We should all remember there are certain things we do traditionally in the past that civilization has made us to stop doing.

I hope we all remember that trecking was the major means of transportation during the times of our fore fathers, but now we move around with cars, buses, trucks etc which are far more efficient than trecking. That is the same thing that will happen to Normardic agric in the future. So what we really need to do is to start getting the herdsmen to change instead of trying to force the society to accept this old method. The truth is that this change will happen it is just a matter of time. The president and APC as a party should know we are just postponing the evil day if we continue to support this practise as the whole world has moved on.

No. my post plainly implies what currently happens. Please do not waste our time with 'potential'. There are currently no plans from any southern group or state to start modern cattle ranching.
There is nothing in my post that implies that only fulanis can rear cattle in NIGERIA.

Bottom line is, most of our beef comes from this destructive practice. If we had an ounce of conviction at all, we would boycott beef. That would decisively force the Miyeti guys to chance their ways.

But as always , we lack the balls to see things through, and we are ruled by our greed.

Well, it up to the Youths of Southern Kaduna. If they can't stop killing our Fulani folks for no reason. This cycle of violence will never end. I'm a 100% blooded Fulani man. I know how we treat vengeance. The root cause of this crisis is nothing short of vengeance. The host Community comitted wicked act on the Fulani and their properties. This wickedness go unreported by media. Now that the Fulani are out there to take their vengeance, all of a sudden hell break loose. Even myself I'm a afraid of hurting my Fulani folks. Cos I know what revenge is to them. Plus, Fulani herdsmen are very good at minding their business. But if you provoke them, you have yourself to blame. Let's all hope this cycle of violence will end. Even in Central and Northern Kaduna, Hausa farmers face the same problem with the Fulani herdsmen, but because understanding and mutual respect it rarely lead to bloodshed.
I have a first hand experience of a Fulani herdsman threaten a boy in a bush part because his cows ate d boy's crops and d boy complained to him

What do u calk that? Peaceful right?

The Fulani herdsmen have been having issues long before May 29 2015....and that Southern Kaduna issue was there also before then

They also have clashes in the North too.

(And for the record....I do not condone their activities. ).

The Government is taking action.....the Army and MOPOL are moving into the area.

And yes....I am of the opinion PMB should be talking more. (He did defend Fulani cattle herders in 2000....when they had a clash with farmers in Oyo state. ).

The problem for me ultimately is that there is a crisis THAT can be solved with better land management. Someone else upthread supported cattle ranches.

And the Fulanis are not the only cattle herder tribe in Africa having issues. Cattle herder tribes in SOuth Sudan, Kenya, and Uganda have serious issues too. The one in Uganda needed Army force to put it down.

I am saying that the problem is bigger than just one part of the country.

EXACTLY.

And it isn't just Nigeria....other African countries have the same issues with other cattle herder tribes.

The good thing in Nigeria is that we just have one cattle herder tribe. Other countries like South Sudan with three of them....on the other hand...

Boycotting their beef won't stop them from grazing in southern lands. In fact, they'll only have more cows to care for... meaning more chances for conflict.

However, I do agree that we are cowards and are greedy; otherwise, this won't be an issue in the first place.

These was the kind of composition I was expecting from CAN and not those inflammatory statements. The leadership of the herdsmen have spoken and in all honesty, its glaring that he is a diplomat. Conflicts like this should not be left alone for the presidency to come into and resolve but religious leaders, youth leaders and community leaders should be at the fore-front of it.

Kudos to the leadership of the herdsmen for such a unifying, civilized and diplomatic message.

The best resolution to this increasing conflict is the passing of the rejected grazing bill. If the herdsmen could be confined then I strongly believe that conflicts will drastically reduce and when such arises, it will be easy for security operatives to Investigate. But some dumb people call is Islamization even when advanced countries have such on ground.

It is good he is calling for peace, but calling for forgiveness.....not good.

Most of the time in Nigeria, we have serious crisis. People get killed. And at the end of the day, we are told to forgive each other and go home. So we go home, with hurts left unhealed....and with simmering tensions waiting for the next igniting factor.

I think there should be a thorough investigation, people should be punished , and lives and property protected. We have forgiven too much in this country, to the point that the law gets disrespected.

High time we had better land management practices in this country too.

The only solution is modern ranching for the fulani folks. Their system of rearing cattles is as primitive as shifting cultivation. Nigeria needs an educated and civilized leader to put things in the proper perspective.

Gej was educated but not civilized while pmb unfortunately for the nation is both uneducated and uncivilized, hence the situation we find ourselves.

The way simple questions cannot be answered on the part of the feds and the nomads in a land with law and order.
Iwhy reprisal when there is an instituted system or law.
