I think you should align your course of study with your future ambition, why study computer engineering when you want to go into entertainment, why not study something like music or dramtic arts that is more related to entertainment,by doing that, you will be able to effectively apply what you learn from your course to further your passion. The real problem is most people don't even know what they want, its when they finish school that they now start thinking, what can I do with my certificate? when they can't get job with their certificate that's when they now try their hands on other things

If you think education is waste of money, try illiteracy. You will find out it is a waste of life.

This shows how useless you are

Can you tell me what Primary school Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Dangote, Wizkid went to

There is nothing called illiteracy

Now, prove me wrong by telling me what you learnt in school

You don't need to go far to see what is called illiteracy. The way you reason and the way you write are true manifestations of illiteracy.

Nigeria is a country where your course of study is never a platform for future ambition or career building. It is a place were a lawyer ends up as a marketer for a commercial bank,a plumber becomes a police officer,an engineer becomes a driver for dangote etc.Every thing seems to be upside down.Just follow your passion and do what makes you happy.
But your assertions don't apply to every course. Take Medicine for example

You think Civil Engineers build awesome structutes by learning on the streets instead of at the university, many inventions, innovations and breakthroughs came from research, or dyu think you do those kind of reseaech with secondary school knowledge?

University is not a waste of time and money please o. In this life Everything has a role to play. I always treasure my university education, cos there I improved on my most treasured skill.. The ability to learn.

From then on I can decide to be whatever I want to be, anything...

I beg to differ. The issue (in my view) is that many people are unable to apply education; otherwise education is uber-worthwhile

While getting your B.SC., you can start-up your business. Do both. Don't wait until you finish with one

I really weep for our education sector.
It's not just our education sector o. Even Americans are complaining same

This is why it is very important for everyone to discover their self. Their innate potentials and how they are wired. Either introverted and right brained. Introverted and left brain. Extroverted and right brain. Or extroverted and left brain. (Which is to say one is either an industrialists/product developer. Professor. Trader. Or administrator/manager). And start from the onset. Acquiring informations, knowledge, etc. That their innate potentials/self favor. You may consult entrepreneurial DNA by Joe Abram or Nnendu Human Capital Developers for more.

As for the student you refer to. If his person (potential wise) favor organising events as against the course. He's studying presently. I'll advice he change course.

Use your ambition to choose your course of study. If your ambition is to become a doctor go into sciences from secondary school. Your ambition first determines your course of study anything different please consult the witch doctor
What if you got into Uni before discovering your future ambition as it is with many of us

Wat If Ur Future Ambition Is Not Studied In D University And U Want 2 Ave A Tertiary Education , Wat Shuld I Do ? I Find Out Dat Nowadays Excluding Those Who Ave A Wealthy Parent , Education Seems To Be A Waste Of Tym 4 A Poor Man In Nigeria.
Yes what you can do:

#1. Study a fairly related course in the Uni. and graduate
#2. Work for a stipulated time, gather just enough money, and pursue that dream course to whatever country where it is offered.

Trust me. I have seen it work for someone; though you've got to be resilient and dogged.

future ambition, I will say. Not that one shouldn't go to sch. If your course of study aligns with your future ambition, very good for you but if it doesn't....well, focus more on your future ambition. Example is one who wants to be a programmer but ends us studying fishery in the university. He should focus on his passion but shouldn't neglect his education.

it is not a myth that most times we don"t earn with what we studied at school.

btw. op u must reply all comments here o. na you kukuma talk am.
Yes I will reply all grin
Just to say, your response is profound. Thank ya

... Which is a total fallacy if you ask around. The real struggle begins at the end of those 4 years.
When will lecturers start saying the obvious truth??

Focus on your course of study first...once you have settled that one and come out with a good grade, my dear the future don't have a choice but to be brighter!

How sure is this quote a lot of people av suffered for 4 years and cum out with good grade and are still suffering aftawards... speak to ursef what do u want in life, 80% of wat is being taught in schools are outdated or irrelevant so wat does the employer needs, a computer science student who was taught Fortran and assembly language, an engineer who was taught only equations.. managerial jobs are hard to cum by dis days... Read and get through school but build sumtin within that period also... I which I had known this earlier

True talk Profayo. But what if you got into school before discovering your future ambition; as it is with a lot of people?
Then what to do depends on how serious you've taken your course in the first place,if you've taken your course very seriously, and you are probably on your way to graduate with a first class or second class upper, then give enough attention to your course to maintain the grade,if not focus on your future ambition
