Lagos State Police Command Releases Statement On Arrest Of Sowore by Nobody: 12:22am On Jan 12, 2017
Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore has been released from detention hours after he was arrested following a criminal defamation petition filed by journalist, Lekan Fatodu. Read the press statement released by the state police command Public Relations officer, Dolapo Badmus after the cut... Today, 11/1/2017 at about 15:39hrs, a distress call was received by the Lagos State Police Command that Mr Omoyele Sowore - Publisher of Sahara Reporters was being attacked by suspected hoodlums around Isaac John street, GRA ikeja. The police swiftly responded, and upon arrival at the scene contrary to the report that a robbery attack was taking place, the police met the duo of Mr Omoyele Sowore and Mr Lekan Fatodu engaged in a brawl/altercation. With a view to ascertaining what led to the false alarm of a robbery, both parties were taken before the Commissioner of Police. In the course of police intervention, it was found out that the brawl is in connection with an earlier complaint of alleged threat to life, defamation of character and blackmail made by Lekan against Omoyele. Both parties were subsequently referred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti where the case has been under investigation. The police just said so much without saying anything. Empty press release. No substance.

Love or hate Sowore, that guy has contributed more to the growth of democracy and good governance in Nigeria than many senators and other politicians.

They might carry some " bad belle" news sometimes or take some fights personal, but the man probably pioneered online news reporting in the country and has continued to run with it.

The fear of sahara reporters is the beginning of wisdom. If they weren't doing something right, a credible international organisation like the Ford Foundation won't be their major sponsor.

When it comes to investigative journalism in Nigeria, Sahara reporters lead while all others follow. No amount of intimidation can stop Sahara reporters from exposing the fraudulent activities of senior government officials and the thieving elites.

You have "resigned" yet you commented twice, back to back. undecided

Meanwhile, Sowore and Lekan should settle their issues like men and stop acting like beeches flying the Russian flag.

Any ipob yoot who comes in here to talk trash will get a taste of my fury this cold morning. angry

Lekan Fatodu was accused by SR of laundering stolen money on behalf of Femi Fani-Kayode. He is a part of the thieving elites that I referred to in my post.

Sahara reporters no doubt redefined the art of investigative journalism in Nigeria, and such infractions are not uncommon for a firebrand journalist like Sowore.

While the Yewts desperately wanted this to be FG vs. SR so that they can claim an assault on the freedom of speech, they must be bitterly disappointed that this was just an altercation between two private individuals. The fact is that the wailing zombies only grouse with SR is the way their several investigative reports on the corruption of Jonathan and his cronies contributed to his sacking from office and eventual hunt for his cronies like the beady eyed queen of looters, Diezani.

Fire on Sowore, we await more juicy revelations.
