‎Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says he is a freedom fighter and not a coupist.

Speaking before Binta Nyako‎, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, on Thursday, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel to Kanu, said his client committed no crime by advocating self-determination for the Igbo.
‎
He said the Biafra agitation predated the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, and that it was laughable that Kanu was accused of treason when all he did was ask for an independent state for the Igbo.
He, therefore, urged the court to quash the charges against his client.

“The Biafra agitation predates this present administration. The fact that the Honourable Justice Ademola decided that there was no incriminating evidence against the first defendants, he ordered his release but this was blatantly refused,” Ejiofor said.

“He’s a freedom fighter unlike people who overthrew a legitimate government in 1983. The court has no option but to discharge the charges. The court should trash the charges.‎”

But Shuaibu Labaran, counsel to the federal government and the prosecution,‎ urged the court to dismiss the application of the defence.
‎He said Kanu’s application to quash the charges against him lacked substance.

“We submit that the application has no substance, and should be discountenanced,” he said. “We urge your lordship to refuse the application.‎”

The Igbo. man has been lamenting since the end of the Civil war for reasons best known to them. They all claim to hate Buhari, but when he doesnt give them appointment they start screaming Biafra and marginalization. how can you openly disdain someone and you expect him to be happy with you.
Secondly the have succeeded in hiking price of some basic food stuff just to paint Buharis government bad. Can someone tell me why the price of Palm Oil has suddenly jerked. Last year when disease plagued northern tomatoes , they said twas a lie that its a northern conspiracy not until things got better before they change their tone again.
The truth is the Average Ibo man believes he should be leading the pack i. e Alpha tribe but, even withing themselves there is no unity, how then are they supposed to lead. Unless Nigeria has the equivalent of our Second Amendment, I can only assume the Judge will deny the bail application. These lawyers are dolts, they basically admitted that their client is guilty. I can't believe the incompetence!

In the United States -for example- we have the right to bear arms, form militias and fight the government if it ever becomes tyrannical ; I doubt Nigeria has such a law enshrined in its constitution.

Nnamdi Kanu's lawyers should come up with better defenses. He is a very serious flight risk and no court serious about its business would risk releasing him even under stringent conditions. I doubt Nigeria has ankle-monitoring technology for its pre-trial defendants. And lets even assume house arrest---with armed guards--- can be arranged, where could be deemed reasonably safe enough for the Security Officers to be able to discharge their duties without fear of harassment or harm from his supporters? And lets even further assume something of that nature could be arranged (House arrest + armed guards) who gets to bear the guaranteed enormous cost of ensuring all the parties involved's safety? Taxpayers? The Government? Nnamdi Kanu? Because here in the United States, those arrested for minor crimes and placed on ankle-monitoring Pre-Trial Home Detention, are usually made to bear the monetary cost of the government having to take special measures to ensure their presence in Court till the conclusion of their case.

Assuming he was charged in Britain for the same crime does he think he would have gotten bail? Because I can guarantee you that here in the United States, a U.S born citizen charged with a similar crime would kiss his freedom goodbye for at least a few decades from the very moment he was handcuffed in that hotel he was nabbed in. No Judge would've granted him bail.

Dont you have Governors? what do they do with their allocations? What about your Senators and Representatives , why don't they join with your Governors and insist on Biafra in the National Assembly.

As far Nigeria still has element of those who were active in the civil war.. Things like this would still happen and If u are learnerd enough to go through some of this Nigeri-Biafran war Books as an Igbo man, your life won't remain same.
