NAMELESS HEROES Buried in the heart of sahel savanna Outside the radial of militia's antenna Seen only by the moon that reflected as lamp Lighting up the ghost mode of our covert camp We remained unfound until we were found Firstly, by a familiar rushing sound As Heaven whistled, waking the sleeping earth Hitherto under the spell of the water's dearth Then it started raining sand and dust Making our use of night vision gurgle a must Sighting at a yonder, a straying metallic stallion In distress, he galloped towards our battalion He bore on its cammo body, mark of a vanquish Bleeding from bullet wound he neighed in anguish The military hilux soon halted amidst the sandstorm Then alighted its driver in blood stained uniform The solider rushed to a wounded gladiator in the cart Drowned in his own blood after losing about a quart Medic! Medic! His voice raised an alarm As he carried his brother in arms on his arm. Special Dedication to Nigerian Armed Forces. Happy Remembrance Day.
