ruggedised:Jammeh started what he couldn't finish by: 1. Conducting an election he felt he'd win or possibly manipulating it to favour himself as was done in previous elections. 2. Underestimated Barrows and the electorates. 3. Accepting defeat and later turned around to say he'd not step down for the president-elect. The ECOWAS forces must make sure that Jammeh is captured, disgraced, made to face the consequences of his action and President-elect installed tomorrow unfailingly. Failure to do this is setting a bad precedence. Africans should no longer tolerate tyranny or sit-tight leaders/dictators. Jammeh-must-go. |

Built2last:That his small plane can either be forced down .... or shot down if need be. The man is very foolish, even when "disgrace" is staring him in the face, he chose not to be "wise" like Goatluck Jonathan! UN has backed the use of Force, AU has backed it, Ecowas has backed it, Nigeria has backed it and the country that "encircles Gambia" (Senegal) has backed it! What else does this Jahmeh need tobe told than to hand-over and pretend that "all is correct" and his reaction was just a mistake? Like most African leaders, they just like dying in office, in a disgraceful manner. Lastpage! |

[quote author=cstr55 post=52924330]It is one thing for ECOWAS to issue an ultimatum, but for senegal an age-long rival of the gambia to use this vulnerability to carry out their own nationalistic agenda in gambia is something that should be discouraged. I expect patriotic gambians to frown at any solo senegalese grand-standing that may tip the scale in jammeh's corner. Jammeh must go, but senegal should leave the grand-standing and ultimatums to ECOWAS and the UN. Gambia rival to Senegal? By what metrics please? |

ScotsReferendum: Sovereignty of any nation ultimately belongs to the people. If an individual or group of individuals decided to manipulate the power of the people to choose, there must be a process of checking abuse of process and power. Such is the essence of regional power blocks and global power unions. Otherwise we should have been counting the 5th WW by now. Remember, if Gambia is not at peace, the neighbouring countries can not pretend to be at peace, because they will have to bear the consequences of migration and its attendant social vices. That is the reason you see UN and AU supporting ECOWAS in this crusade. I have been praying that he will accept asylum in Nigeria and bring his stolen monies so that he can receive Charles Taylor treatment. |

Even here in Tanzania...we are verry tired of this bunch of thiefs called CCM..... They are in power since 1961 but still no schools....good road and necessity.....only for themselves and their family..... I hope ECOWAS will help us in 2020..... God bless Africa.... |

KillJoy62:That is what happens when you dont "respect yourself"! Just look at the way the ousted Ghana President is respected? he did not make any noise or move to cause tension in his country He lost, he congratulated the winner and he left. That is how it should be in Africa and anywhere. If some despots want to give Africa a bad name, countries like Nigeria have a duty to make sure we boot them out (and we must also not do the same thing o!) Lastpage! |
