Well if you go on researchgate.net you will see d progress universities like CU, ABUAD, OAU, UI are making in the research world. Covenant university now has about 25 patents with d European Patent office. Some of our lecturers publications in Nigeria are cited even from developed nations. However, there needs to be more funding to undertake highly impactful research.

Instead of nigerians spending billions of naira studying abroad, if they spend the money in nigeria the money would also help the economy greatly.

The primary responsibilities of a university is to educate, research, innovate and invent. Job creation has nothing to do with university creation. You cant dispel the argument for university creation because there are no jobs. They are two different things completely. Nigeria need more good universities to service her increasing population. Currently we have 200 higher institutions for 180m ppl while the US has 3000 for 321m ppl..

What's the US GDP vis-a-vis Nigeria's? Compare oranges vs oranges not oranges to apples. For instance, Japan has over 4000 universities.

BTW if you studied in an institution with good infrastructure as this and you still graduated with below 2:1, then your parents must have really wasted money.

Irony of life.First class is first class while 2.1 is 2.1. Is just that our lecturers at public universities are wicked and selfish unlike the private ones

But the value of 2:1 lies in its scarcity. If everyone had a first class or 2:1 in private units it won't have any value. Plus academic woes doesn't necessarily correlate with success in life e.g Oyedepo didn't graduate with a very good result but today he has professor s on his payroll.

Everyone knows Covenant uni is a boss na but Afe is also a very good uni with great alumni. It is currently the 2nd best private uni in Nigeria behind Covenant uni and her lecturers having been producing highly impactful journals of recent.

I think after Covenant University, American University and Igbinedion University follow in Thatcher order.

Moreover, covenant university sudents pay relatively lower tuition fee.
