If there are people this economy is dealing with right now I think I'm number one, going that the price of everything has increased 100%, I'm afraid because all I have been living on was the last food stuffs I bought since last year which is about finishing soon, Oil and other ingredients already finished and I was in the market just yesterday only to realize the price of everything has double

I had to buy half the things I needed as that was what the money I had could only afford. Is this happening on the side of everyone else or just my side?

My brother everyone on a fixed salary is feeling the pain, it's like waking up one day and finding out your salary has been halved without your knowledge!

There is little joy at the moment but what keeps me is the belief that hopefully this country is getting on the right track and that after these pains we will see the kind of development serious nations all over the world have been enjoying.

Very disappointed at your post.. "There's more to food than food" I know already, with that you sound very intelligent, but to tell me to get a life! Seriously you said that? it makes you appear stupid because you can't go about your life dreams on empty stomach.

Do you have a life?

He told you the bitter truth, there is more to life than food. I some times work at the office and won't remember I have not had my breakfast till around 2pm.

It's pathetic how epicurean today's youths have become. We only think of food.

The high cost of goods and services has made me to realise I have to have a business of mine, so come February I will start learning laundry and dry cleaning when I come back from the office and on weekends.

Fortunately me and everyone around me are doing well. I only know there is recession from news and social media. Career Civil servants are the people I believe have been badly hit as there salaries remain stagnant. However I don't think any intelligent man can opt to be a career civil servant as it wastes your years.

Rochas Okorocha has given Imo State civil servants work free days to use in whatever business that will help add more to their earnings but politicians are misleading them into protest except of course the wise ones that already had businesses running.

I don't think you read the Heading, I don't use to go round and about the market asking the prices of food items, I only used it as an example, I could have used something else but food Items are what I just bought. I don't know why people would deviate from the topic just to show they are wiser .. Mr. All Work And No Chop. the subject is not about how epicurean today's youths have become but, "how has the economy affected you?" is that hard to understand?

We have seen you bro. The busiest man ever liveth, eating even once a day will not bring you closer to your dreams, its not one of the criteria so feed well for health.. and please the subject is "how has the economy affected you" not how it has affected your feeding I only used price of food items as example

When you have foodstuff or money to buy it whenever you want, you wouldn't understand the fears of someone who doesn't or managing. Receive sense. smiley

I don't think there is anyone living in the country that the economy hasn't affected. Cost of commodities are just so high!

Sadly, we aren't productive enough in this country, and government at all levels aren't helping matters.

Yes only career civil servants buy a litre of kerosene at #700.
Only career civil servants queue up at filling stations for hours to buy a litre of fuel at #155 like I did today.
Only career civil servants fill a 12kg cylinder of gas at #5500 from #3500 previously.
Only career civil servants are losing their jobs daily.

So I suggest career civil service to be scrapped don't you think so?

I was addicted to hollandia yougurt and short bread but since hollandia is now 450 and shortbread 650, I have borrow myself sense. At least the recession cured one addiction. It's remaining the other one, which somehow have become cheaper....

Personally it's not affecting me directly because I knew a time like this will come. I even warned and advice Nigerian on what to do 2 years ago but some called prophet of doom lol.

The problem I am having now is that the number of people that depend on me has increased. What I do now is that I buy my food stuffs in bulk that can last quarterly to reduce the unit cost.

I don't want to insult u, so help me God.. You don't think any "intelligent" man can opt to b a civil servant!! Are u sane?? To even imagine d flimsy reason u put up dea! The reason u make profit 4rm ANYTHING u do is because of d support of dat unintelligent civil servant. This is d reason we are knee deep in corruption amidst an anti corruption crusade! Do u know its illegal to run a biz while in d civil service?? Your "wise" civil servants are criminals and should b prosecuted appropriately.. In a govt u say is doing well, its civil servants are in ur own words "badly hit" by its policies, and u say dey should resort to illegality!! U even suggest d badly hit folks are misled by politicians tp protest? So we should copy okorocha and put out some work free days just so we can move 4rm under productivity to UNPRODUCTIVITY. No where did u even state dey should increase dea salaries. As u say, EVERYONE around u is doing well only implies 2 possible scenarios: You are a corrupt official in govt OR u dont actually see EVERYONE around u! U my friend, are a poster boy 4 everything wrong with NIGERIA!!

Op I don't know wea to start.. My operation equipment 4 my biz valued at about 250k few years back is now close to a million!! Gat to take care of my folks and d cost of food + NEPA bill has made me shelf any biz plans till things get better! Now dats d bad part, my friend has advised dat things MAY not improve anytime soon so I should try to purchase at dat price!! If dey hike d fuel price again dat would just destroy a very bad situation!!
