The fear of 'The Establishment' is that the confederate units can secede at any time. This fear was what informed the breaking up of Nigeria into states from the previous regional structure. The goal was to weaken the regions further. The resultant was the strengthening the Centre |

Nigeria is the only country where Islamist are doing everything possible to live with infidels. Even the biggest fool know its all because of oil. Before luggard came, didn't we all live independently. Why the desperate unity by force? 2 Likes 1 Share |

On the 4th and 5th of January 1967, Gowon and Ojukwu met in Aburi to find a way to avoid the impending bloodshed. Everyone agreed with Ojukwu that the 4 existing Regions should become 'confederate' in nature. Basically, each of the 4 Regions would assume greater political and fiscal responsibility for its self while the center (Lagos) would become very weak in its control of the Regions. Ojukwu and Gowon signed the agreement and each returned home. We all know what happend next. Gowon broke the Gentlemans agreement he signed in Ghana which forced Ojukwu to secede and civil war followed. The problem with 'confederation' is that it is more of a SE/SS thing. All the major tribes in the SE/SS are confederations. Igbos still remain a confederation of clans to this day. Ijaws reman a confederation of clans to this day. The entire Akwa-Cross area remains a confederation of clans and linguistic neigbours to this day. However, Yorubas and Hausas are 'empire builders' who find the idea of 'confederation' a strange one. Thats why both of them united to fight Ojukwu to remove it Eventually, for Nigeria to have any chance of surviving, it must be run as a confederation or a confederacy. 2 Likes |

Nigeria is one big fraud. The Northerners in particular are ready to produce excess children just to remain majority and stay in a country with infidels. I no longer pity their poverty again . . . 2 Likes |

zendy:Did they have to unite? Yorubas n Hausas where part of Nigeria already and remained during the war. Did present day Delta, Edo, and Kogi also have to unite with Nigeria or they were part of it? |

zendy: Secretly a lot of Nigerians admit that ojukwu was right but they will never admit it openly. They know that they have done or supported so much evil to maintain this contraption so the guilt will not allow them to admit the truth. |

Hausa/Fulani demons impede civilization and development and hence would do anything to hinder the implementation of full fiscal federalism. |
