I have strong skill in Statistical analysis using SPSS, Matlab, Eviews etc. I equally have nack for data entry using any format. Can this skills attract any client in upwork? Again, can one combine data entry and statistical analysis in one profile? How do i advertise for jobs in upwork? I intend registering as a Nigerian. What are the pros and cons of this. Hi Everyone. I did mention some time ago that I'd soon be another addition to the growing number of Nigerians who rock Upwork as Top-rated freelancers even with the Nigerian flag. Interestingly, it happenned in December last year. This came with more invitations and jobs as you would expect. However, much to my dismay, most clients still want to pay peanuts. Although I am really good at negotiation, having successfully convinced clients who advertised $50 to pay four to five times the advertised amount, I still believe I can do better considering the amount so-called native speakers make. Summarily, can anyone suggest ways to make clients pay better? Even as I expect tips, I have some in other areas for fellow freelancers: 1. Bill your clients big time. If many of them pay higher for crap, why not make them pay really well for your golden services? 2. Don't beg for jobs. If possible, work for big firms or solopreneurs that have the cash to spare. Ignore Upwork agencies and broke clients who want you to be their wage slaves. 3. Understand industry rates. Don't accept $20 for a job of $80 due to ignorance, or simply because it will look reasonable when converted to Naira. Develop what I call DOLLAR MINDSET. I hope to receive the tips I asked for. Exoticstan: You said it, my brother, I got suspended from Upwork because of some deals. I had multiple accounts but deleted all, to cut the long story short. I was suspended. However, I am enjoying life outside Upwork. I source for jobs on craigslist and other sites; I just got an offer to write 2000 words for $70. I am happy I discovered Upwork it changed my mindset, it helped me desire to improve my writing. I now make money outside of Upwork for better pay. |

Exoticstan: No, nothing of that nature, a lot of sites are looking for good writers. You can visit sites that you think you can write for and contact them by email directly telling them what you can write and why they should hire you. You just have to source for jobs by contacting companies directly and have a very good linkedIn profile. You must have really good writing samples (not plagiarised) or sites you have written for. I also write for Crowdpondent.com you can join and earn some change and use it as a sample of your writing when applying for jobs. MULLAH123: The payment isn't fixed; it all depends on how successful your article is. They have a way of calculating it, I am not clear how they do the Math. I just withdrew $78 today, payment is made through Paypal or bitcoin. |
