A group of lawyers yesterday condemned action by the Federal Government, withdrawing criminal charges against the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Gambo Saleh and two other principal officers .

The Federal Government had on November 3, 2016, filed a nine-count charge with the number CR/13/2016 against Gambo, the Assistant Director of Finance at the apex court, Rilwanu Lawal, and the Deputy Director of Finance, Sharif Abdulrahman.

The Federal Government, however, in a dramatic turn of events last Wednesday withdrew the charge against them.

It was however learnt that the charge was withdrawn on ground that the Saleh will be listed as a witness in the trial against Justice Ngwuta.

This action had allegedly prompted one of the prosecutors engaged by the Federal Government, Charles Adeogun Phillips, to withdraw from further prosecuting Justice Ngwuta. Phillips was also prosecuting the CR until when the charge was withdrawn.
