Only one fire fighting truck in the whole of Onitsha! This is one more example of disfunction and ineptitude of the current Anambra state government. It befuddles me that a government knowing that Onitsha generates the most of the state's revenue and the human density of the city ,didn't see it necessary and a matter of common sense to make necessary provisions for this kind of disaster which are often associated with cities bearing similar attributes. I do hope that no lives were lost and that ndi Anambra makes a wise decision in the coming election. |

Again the problem is not just per say providing a functional fire service to towns and cities, it is about revaluating incidents like these and use them to inform future policies to prevent fires from occurring in the first place. Our legislators have no clue of fire safety and all |

You bastard will never mind your useless and worthless imo state that does not even have a common fire service. At least you can see a functional fire service in Onitsha making effort to put out the fire. [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

This is heartbreaking! Especially for the lives lost. I think Obiano should face reality and get to work! Commissioning private businesses' projects all over the place and running so much media charade should become secondary. A standard fire fighting service should be a given in Onitsha with lots of industries and businesses. Onitsha should have at least 5 standard fire stations! He can borrow a leaf from Lagos State that has a fair enough fire service and then a well-equipped and very responsive LASEMA Response Unit- LRU. This escalation can be avoided |

GuyfawkesAB:Emulate Which Lagos state? Please stop lying to yourself! I can still recall how plazas at Balogun Street island were razed down by fire including one near oluwole shopping mall. Nigeria as a whole is dysfunctional abeg. Stop supporting mediocrity |

Take your rubbish elsewhere. Onitsha metro has at least 6 standard fire service stations and all of them are fully equipped. [s] GuyfawkesAB:[/s] |

The 2nd time in one month that Anambra fire service has been found helpless. The one at Nnewi had Ifeanyi Ubah intervene with personal trucks while this one at Onitsha took Delta State fire service to control and yet Obiano is busy commissioning private companies without looking at the basic. To the best of my knowledge Peter Obi invested a lot in fire service which makes it easier for Obiano to ride on but I'm afraid he lost it. |

This is an accident but a preventable one. I mean the houses around. How can a petrol station be situated in a residential area? Office complexes in such proximity? People has been shouting about the way people are granted licenses to build petrol stations in such places by relevant authorities, yet they keep deaf ears. Petrol stations should be far away from crowded areas as anything can happen @ anytime. Something like this happened last year @ nkpor junction ( oando) and also @ ugwumba junction( Elohim) it affected some properties around, still licenses are being issued on daily basis for sitting of petrol stations in such areas. Govt should take note of this. That kamo plaza is housing many offices including banks. |

Our fireservice in Anambra is working perfectly well. There was a fire disaster in owerri just last week and fire service came all the way from Onitsha to put it out but not before the entire filling station was gutted. It is paining you frustrated hag that we are commissioning projects both private and state owned while your useless state has been pillaged into worthlessness and backwardness by your hopeless gov. By the way has your useless governor paid salary of over 10months arrears? [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

That's just one sub station in Onitsha while your useless Imo state has no single functional fire station. [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

LasGidiOwner:Yes there was same incident at Orji town in Imo State but the ready and working fire service made sure only the tanker truck was affected as you can see from these pictures. Even the petrol station remained intact. Obiano should buckle up and stop showmanship. www.lindaikejisblog.com/2017/02/photos-tragedy-averted-as-petrol-tanker.html?m=1 Scores escaped death as a petrol tanker burst into flames at a local petrol station in Orji, Imo State. With timely intervention from NEMA, Fire Service and NSCDC, inferno was controlled and quenched with less damage to properties and no loss of life. The incident happened on Friday, January 27, when the loaded truck was discharging the content at the petrol station. More photos below...

Shut up, the incident was in Owerri and not Orji. It happened in the heart of Owerri and there was no Imo state fire service anywhere to save the situation until it came all the way from another state but they could not meet up as everything was burnt to the ground. Okorocha should at least set up a fire service in the state because Anambra under Obiano has fire service stations in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, Nkpor, etc Okorocha should sit up and govern his state than playing politics with the lives of his people. That was the same way fulanis killed Imolites in their own state and beheaded another in Kano but your governor was busy playing politics with it. It is a shame.... [s] Abagworo:[/s] |

Abagworo, this is one of the fire service stations in Anambra. Show us something similar in your useless state...

LasGidiOwner:Even Linda reported it as quoted above and more over Obiano behaves like you do. He prevented Ifeanyi Ubah's fire trucks from helping all because of politics. Obiano stops Ifeanyi Uba's Fire vehicles from intervening at Onitsha, In January, 2017, it was Dr. Ifeanyi Uba'h Fire-fighting vehicles that quenched the Nnewi timber fire. Obiano sent his SSA, Ifeanyi Aniagoh to issue a statement that Ifeanyi Uba's people mixed the water with fuel and made the fire worst. They felt Ifeanyi scored political point out if that purely humane intervention Yesterday when fire was burning at Onitsha. Ifeanyi Ubah out of his humane consideration wanted to intervene again. On getting to Oba junction, security people turned them back saying that Government already had enough fir fighting equipment at the site. But the truth is that Government did nothing. Why would Obiano play politics with everything?
