He's fresh there and has never done the process before.

He wants to send me $200. I don't have a dorm account but a friend who does has promised to help me receive the money, he says he will deduct the charges.

With Gt Bank which I use, they charge 40$. So do the maths. Why not find someone who would give him the Naira equivalent over there in the US in exchange for the Dollar.

Check 200-40=160. Then remove another 0.5% bank charge. You may finally receive 156$ .
156 x 500 = 78,000

To the best of my knowledge , for most international transfers the sender pays the fees .

For most US banks , wire transfer fees range from $40-60 , Chase online transfer I'm very sure is $40 , credit unions collect up to $60.

Diamond bank Domm account to the best of my knowledge does not charge fees to recieve funds. However over the counter withdrawal can attract little charges. Diamond bank as at today charged $2.50 for withdrawal of $1,000.

However, if the fund is not sizeable as is in your case wire transfer doesn't make economic sense.

Other options that might be available to you is asking your brothers to send you bitcoin equivalent , however be mindful of bitcoin volatility.

Some dealers here also offer services whereby your brother can deposit the funds in their U.S accounts while they pay you a negotiated naira value. However be mindful of scammers.
Some reliable dealers here like onatisi I think offer such services so you can deal with him if that option appeals most to you.

But if you still are confused then you can do the good ol western union or money gram , that is if their rate doesn't make you nauseous.
