Your talking about Gowon, what of the ones committed by buhari laid government of today in Aba, Onitsha, asaba and most resent in PH.

The truth remains that nigeria can never be one because it not one as simple as that, we can never retreat on Biafra even if were defeated on referendum, we will prepare for another referendum. But I know we can't be defeated.

You have to preach to buhari gov.& co to toe the part of peace because they are the ones killing us.

we don't want peace but equal right & justice.
I know for sure that buhari is only trying to protect the peace and unity of his country... but killing of innocent protesters is way out of line... I must confess I am not in support of such... we are all victims here... the system is raping us of our rights. together we can join hands and lend our voices.. but divided..

Each day i wake up to face the disapointment and the reality that Lord Lugard's mistakes cant be undone. He amalgamated 2(3) distinct regions who share nothing in common for his and his clueless queen's selfish interest.

Peace preachers arent enough to curb the menace of tribalism and religion bigotry. Just lke youve rightly pointed in your post: this problem started way back in time.

We need strong ideologies, vission and great institutions to fight this disease called tribalism.
Sir tribalism is the sole reason the south behaves like spouses to the north.. united the south will be a force to reckon with... I hope some day Nigeria will unite on the purpose of development and for a common course.

Kanu was not locked up to hide anything. Kanu is charged with treason, the call for armed force to overthrow the government of the Federal republic of Nigeria and inciting violence against her citizens.
I stand with u on that one.. KANU had the idea but had to peddle lies to drive his point home... even brexit did not preach hate or war in their quest for referendum... so NK is a looming disaster the govt had to curtail.

As a neutral, regarding the topic (even though I know it's a hot potato), I am still yet to be provided with an adequate explanation as to why political actors had to be murdered during the first coup. Everything went downhill after that first coup, and judging politicians by today's standards, the politiciains then were saints, okay, maybe, saints harbouring prejudice!

Furthermore, it was a bit politically naive to assume that any European colonial power would let any region within the artificial boundaries of countries they formed assert independence without the colonial power sanctioning it, I think this was a massive mistake. Especially as under Ikemba, it would have been viewed with suspicion and also from the perspective of a military dispensation.
Nigerians felt threatened as the Igbo's were mostly the middle and upper class. leading many agencies like the police and so on.... an Igbo man was the vice chancellor of Lagos state university and they would not allow such on their land(east). the Igbos were not comfortable with the government the colonial masters left behind, they were not okay been ruled by hausas, all Nigerians did not like the government the colonial masters planted b4 leaving... so the coup! major Kaduna felt the corrupt political heads had to be ousted.. as even mere contract was handed to the highest bidder and this government is mostly Hausa dominated. for a freedom we collectively fought for just a fear have hijacked to amass wealth.. that led to the coup.

Ironsi brought the centralisation of powers but he did not bring the unitary system. Ironsi met 4 Regions, he left 4 Regions. If 4 Regions had been left, we would have still been practicing Regionalism. Gowon came in and destroyed Regionalism by abolishing the 4 Regions and creating 12 states

Remarkable! There are many Nigerians, particularly Yorubas, who still think Ojukwu declared Biafra for the fun of it

The so called 'Nigerians' killed themselves to the tune of over 3 million souls in other to be together. More civilised people would say "conduct a referendum and choose who wants to be Nigerian and who doesnt

Sadly, a lot of Nigerians would actually support another war, to keep Lord Lugards creation going

Sorry bro but home is where you call it, not where Lord Lugard called it. Unity should be by mutual acceptance and not 'by force'. If unity is 'by force', it will never bring happiness

Really? It will be hard to convince an Igbo like me about that because 'one Nigeria' has cost my people over 3 million souls. But guess what? After all that, Nigeria is no better than the day Ojukwu declared Biafra.

May God Bless us all and may he finally give me and my fellow Igbos along with the minorities who are comfortable with us, freedom. The freedon to seek a new begining outside the one Lugard forced us all into.
may God help us in our endeavors.. may God never allow us go to war.. I hope that the freedom u seek comes into ur heart as peace to see logical reasons why we need each other.

We don't seek war but we will never accept the condition this evil Nigeria has placed us. We've asked for restructuring, they refused. We are now asking for a referendum towards our quest for Biafra, rather they came with guns and are killing our young men and their civilians were cheering them and mocking us. Time is ticking and one day, everyone will feel the heat. No one goes into conventional warfare any more. It makes it easier to be defeated. Guerrilla warfare is the real deal. Costly and tiring. Already, Nigeria is suffering that of Boko harms. Can they survive a more larger and co-coordinated one? This time all southern Nigeria will feel it. A lot of things will be distorted and the suffering monumental. Young men are being prepared psychologically for that. Like no boko boys ever confess upon torture, so shall the young men be. You will long for this present days but won't see it. This will surely kill this evil Nigeria. You will learn never to treat us as inconsequentials. The sell outs among us will be used as scapegoats. That would be a sign. Any peace under injustice and inequality is slavery. We are NEVER slaves.

OP- you are a rare gem among your peers. Thirsty for knowledge, fair minded and open hearted. Though I disagree with some information you believe to be true, I respect your efforts.

You will rise to the top by God's grace. Keep it up.

So buhari sacrifice the blood of innocents who are my brothers & sisters on the alter of one Nigeria, and your telling me to come together with murders of my people.
Remember the sacrifice started since 1914 till date, my people has been sacrificed enough on the alter of one nigeria & now its over.

let me tell you that those of you calling for one nigeria are wasting your time because we have went far, so we can't turn back.

I can't leave with murders of my people under the same roof its over long long ago.
