JewelStone:Hi JewelStone, This is very detailed. thanks a lot. need some pointers from you: what courses, in your opinion, are relevant or helpful in terms of getting a good job in sydney? You already mentioned Nursing and Disability; you also mentioned IT as a so so. Any other courses that are very relevant and can get one a well paying job? I am trying to follow in your steps and do my homework very well before landing in Sydney sometime in July on a PR. |

Hello guys . Been a silent observer my self...tho I made an application before coming across this threads. Still thought to was right to post my success. As we are all Nigerian and we need to help "genuine" visa seekers so our name will remain drama free in this world of trump etc lol Visa application : 1st Feb . Medical front loaded Grant : 22nd Feb After an argonising few weeks of waiting I finally got the response I expected. Anyone have an idea how Brisbane is in terms of jobs etc. School resumes on the 27th, but might be late by a day or so. Ask any question u wish I will gladely reply. Thanks guys |

Well in most cases u have to use the schools country representative to get the admission which i did. Then u can either decide to apply for the visa on ur own or continue the flow with the agent. Lucky u, i hear Form A is now available unlike our time where we had to face the reality of exchange rates. So get the schools bill and apply an exchange rate of 375 there abt. That gives u an estimated cost of ur study in Australia holysinner01: |

Contacting them shouldnt be much of a problem especially if u hv gotten to know ur Case Officer. However wen making enquries u need to be subtle abt it and not forceful. All da best bruv. CJFLEX: |

@chuglothan, sammywemmy and sheguru. Please note that it is possible to communicate or direct your questions to a particular person on the thread without quoting the entire write up. Quoting jewelstone is as bad as spamming the thread especially for those of us using phones. You could just click on reply, write the person's moniker and ask your questions. Another way around it is to quote the post, edit and leave the point similar to your question. It makes reading easier and encouraging. Cheers |

CJFLEX:Y not mail the school telling them about your visa status and request for an extension,my husband did same last year and got one week extension,so he had it handy for when the VO requested for an extension letter to issue his visa |

classichsy:There are lots Indians with years of experience in IT trooping in everyday, and the PR takes longer cos the points are a bit higher and more difficult to attain. So even if you get PR, getting a job may not be easy @mzjennypher I think Special ED is on the PR list but the requirements are a bit stringent, you're IELTS has to be top notch and you'll go through serious screenings before you can teach. The job prospects ain't bad but not too exiting Solitin40:I did my course in a month including placement but I learnt the rules have changed now and I don't have the deets. Like I told another poster earlier, I will confirm and update. Yes you can pay your fees with disability jobs if you work smart. Note it's casual not part time, students can't do part time job @abbyjo My first course was in quarters, 2 quarters making one semester. After the first quarter, I emailed the school that I can't continue anymore cos it's boring and I lost my passion for it. Lol. They tried to force me to complete a semester but I refused cos it's a waste of my money and time. Eventually, they allowed me to change but it took determination and endless phone calls. What course is your friend currently studying? @chuglothen Yeah you can pay your TAFE fees/bills with casual jobs in Disability if you work smart. Dip. in Nursing will get you decent jobs until you swith to RN. I'm not sure how relevant your banking experience will be, I equally had 3 years experience in UBA but haven't used it here one day. @sheguru You can PM me, I'll respond as soon as convenient cos I'm getting soo many PMs sammywemmy:Civil Engineering and related professions such as Architecture are hot cos construction is booming at the moment. Other engineering and technological professions are good too except maybe petroleum. Anything in the medical field is great. I'm not discrediting IT, it's just a bit difficult to get jobs due to excess supply. Honestly, nursing is the easiest job here for immigrants cos they need nurses everyday and can't help but offer us the jobs. Please note that my opinion is restricted to Sydney |

Thanks dearie. I know that Bsc nursing is better but my challenge is being able to finance it while doing casual jobs. Or do you think I can finance Bsc in nursing and still pay my bills with just casual jobs? |

| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 2:22am On Feb 24, 2017 |
Path21:Seminar or conference is classified as business. So you would need to apply for a business visa. Your company need not provide bank statement although you need to provide your own personal statement plus supporting documents from company I.e. letter stating they are sending you on conference and what days you would be staying for, your employment contract, couple of payslips, Id card, itinerary for flight and hotel. Don't forget to include Polio and yellow fever cards plus get your finger prints taken. |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 2:27am On Feb 24, 2017 |
nellyalph:Hang in there, your case officer will advice you to defer your admission if need be. They know time is running out. If after two weeks of orientation, you may want to write them to know what is going on. That's what I would do if I were in your shoes. |
