nemesis2u:No internal bomb bay right? I guess this version will have more space inside then. I wonder what that extra space will be used for. More fuel capacity? Additional equipment? |

Seened:5 generation fighters have 2 configurations depending on mission requirement 1.stealth configuration : when such a fighter has to ingress into heavily defended areas or maintain stealth untill contact , then the aircraft goes ahead in clean configuration aka stealth mode ie there no external weapons or non stealthy pods r carried in its external hard-points/wing stations. all weapons r carried inside its internal weapons bay and any external sensor pods if required r housed in stealth pods. 2.non stealthy configuration : when maintaining stealth is not a priority or if a higher weapons load is a priority , then the aircraft can employ terrain hugging mode to evade radars etc to ingress in heavily defended areas and simultaneously rely on its active/passive sensors to fool enemy defences. in non clean configuration (non stealthy configuration) weapons r carried on its external hardpoints in addition to it the usual weapons housed inside the internal weapons bay. 5th generation aircraft will also employ mixed configuration depending on mission profile eg 1. in the absence of mid air refullers , 5th gen aircrafts will carry external fuel tanks but with all their weapons inside their internal weapons bay. they will drop their tanks (exit non stealth configuration) and transition in full stealth configuration once they r near their targets etc. 2. depending on missile profile 5 generation aircrafts will carry oversized cruise missiles on their external stations, once these r fired they will transition to their stealth configuration and carry forward with their mission requirements in stealth configuration if required etc etc. AMCA is designed to operate in either stealth configuration or non steath configuration or both, just like any other 5th gen aircraft's. during the india's maiden attempt at making modern jet fighter aka LCA, it was realized that Indian scientists had taken the wrong approach towards developing core technologies . one must first develop the required core technologies first and then integrate it with the fighter aircraft and not the other way round. not doing so leads to longer development and certification/validation times. so having learn the lessons during LCA development , india now is first developing all the required core technologies which will go into AMCA. 1.FBL (fly by light) flight control system, Indian teams r/were in japan to learn about this technology and gain enough info to make it back in India. 2.3D TVC (3 dimensional thrust vectoring control) for both LCA and AMCA via cooperation with Klimov Russia 3.distributed AESA arrays in addition to the primary AESA radar with nputs from Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design Russia and Israel. i have already posted pics of 16 and 32 AESA array developed by DRDO for placement in conformal housings like wing flaps , ailerons etc. 4.sensor and data fusion 5.stealth technology in cooperation with sukhoi and dassault 6.next generation RAM coatings . the french dont want to part with it , not even allow a peek into it ![]() etc etc most of these intra governmental cooperation's r academic level exchanges only which benefits both sides , but ultimately conceptualization development, debugging and productionization of the said technology is solely depended on the competence of the Indian teams, becz no country will give in their closely guarded secrets everything is limited to hand-holding and limited consultancy at best only. Here’s the update of AMCA’s core tech. (cannot vouch personally , it is open source info) current status: No.~ Item ~ Status~ Since~ ETA 1. conti... pic 1 distributed AESA arrays for AMCA pic 2 latest AMCA model at aeroindia 2017 pic 3 AMCA with internal weapons door bay open (note the saw tooth pattern of the bay doors) pic 4 AMCA non stealthy configuration and final info, full funding for AMCA development has not been released till date, untill and unless everybody concerned is fully confident that all the tech required has been developed , no official sanction will be done. it is much like what the Japanese r doing , they rolled out a demo shin shin to test and validate their tech. before deciding on going the full hog on their future definitive 5 gen fighter aircraft

@nemesis if the dvt of AMCA has gone that far , will the IAF still get the PAK FA. |
| Re: Technical Discussions On International Military Equipments Doctrines Tactics Etc by Nobody: 12:48pm On Feb 28, 2017 |
numbered:u see both AMCA AND FGFA (PAKFA) r meant to fulfill 2 different requirements and acceptance of one or the other has nothing to do with the induction/development of the other . they r parallel projects for parallel, albeit different requirements AMCA is meant to replace/fill in the role of medium weight category aircraft's eg. jaguars , mig 27s , mirage2000 etc FGFA is meant to replace/fill in the role of heavy weight category aircraft's eg. SU30MKIs etc in the end it will come down to the govt. decision to give 1.green light to the joint development of FGFA 2.green light to the development of AMCA unfortunately both the projects still have not been given the definitive green light plus funding to proceed beyond a certain stage. both FGFA and AMCA is expected to cost close to 10+ billion dollars in developmental costs only. thats a lot of money at risk. may be in the next few months atleast we will get to know of the decision on FGFA (PAKFA) , as for AMCA unless all the required core technologies is developed/acquired , it will be kept on hold(full funding will not be released). |
