The problem was never if games can be won with him.

The problem was in his associative play and the question was,can he improve in that aspect.

You can't watch Aguero today and tell me you don't see a difference.

English......u be teacher? We were told aguero is finished and can't fit into the Pep way. Since then he has gone ahead to score in almost all the matches.

Feel free to blow more grammar. Wehcomsir....

Diggz is everything okay? Few weeks ago you claimed you heard someone say Aguero was too old. You couldnt quote where anyone said Aguero was old

When Mata was not a fit for Mourino was he not scoring and assisting?

Please look front dayo.......You type most times without taking into consideration the extent of Ur assertions. Just to do every Roddy Pipers skill to get away from acknowledging Ur misyarns when dey are brought into qxn.

I am sure you will never agree to adding goal keepers to Ur 30 and above players assertion too.

Goalscorers in Europe’s top leagues who have scored 15+ goals (no penalties) and under the age of 27 are Lukaku(18), Belloti(21), icardi(16)

cheesy grin grin
You will make a very bad lawyer bro, you wanna defend Lacasera then don't talk about penalties

Is it not the same league Cavani and Ibra(Miss world) were scoring like basketball? Cavani is still scoring sef

If you are under 27 and your name is not Lukaku, Kane, Belotti or Auba, then you Gat nothing on Icardi

all you typed I couldn't see anything that shows icardi is better than Lacazette...

Firstly, remind me how icardi only have to score with a Pk in a 5-1 win. When averagees like perisic were banging 2 goals. The same PK that is worthless. grin

For every 38 touches icardi needs to score, lacazette needs only 10 kiss

Lacazette is a 20+ goal plus striker every season , Icardi is not. shocked

Look at the French ligue 1 table, and look at the seria A table Lacazette shits on Icardi... cheesy

In consistency over the last 5 years.. Lacazette still shirts on icardi.. shocked

Lastly. It might interest you that in the under 27 strikers you listed Icardi is the poorest of them, even Belotti who is only having his first season, shirts on him.. embarassed

Now tell me how many elite club would love to or even bidded for lacazette?? Even soton choose gabbiadini over him tongue to show you how fraudulent he is in front of goal

Lacazette, harry Kane , lukaku ( this three can be said to be in same age grade) they have been banging 20+ in all competition for the last 3 seasons.. Icardi is not doing that, compare him with peter crouch.

It irritates me when people start sorting out penalty goals in a players stats.

Is penalty not a goal? Why will you minus it from a total goal of a player?

Is penalty even that simple to score? Great players miss decisive penalties every time. If penalty is that easy to score, Man Utd wouldn't have been 6th position in the table right now.

Every team has a penalty taker, free kick taker, right corner kick taker, left corner kick taker etc. Is it the fault of the penalty taker if his team gets penalty every time and he converts it?

If a player score 30 goals in a season and 29 of them are penalties and no one surpass that 30 goal mark, nobody will take 'highest goal scorer' award from him.

A goal is a goal abeg.

So if you're looking for a sharp striker you have 2 options one who scored 10 goals from open play and one who scored 9 penalties and 2 from open play which one will you pick.

James Milner, this Everton left back all have multiple goals this season from penalties will you count them as one of the best scorers in their team?

I'm not comparing players here.

I am only pointing out that penalty goals count as much as those headers, tap ins, thunderbolts, chips etc goals...

A goal is a goal.

We have players who are know as 'tap in' experts. Tell me which is easier to score, tap in or penalty? But how many times have we sorted out tap ins in a strikers stat?

I beg to differ. A key characteristic of a striker is his accuracy. Penalties are not a yardstick to use in judging a strikers accuracy because they are much more easier than scoring from open play.

And you can not say that all goals are the same. Freekicks displays a players technical ability and it would be fair to say those types of strikers are the most efficient and effective strikers.
Heading of the ball simply boils down to height and lifts/ jump power, you would hardly see a short striker scoring headers. I am simply trying to correct your notion that all goals are equal.
More so, there is no striker that you would say is very bad at pk. You might say they miss a considerable number and other strikers might have better conversion rate but the penalty goals they've scored will always be much higher than the ones they've missed because most penalties are just a 70:30 situation for the striker.

I believe that discounting the penalty goals would be a much better indices to use in judging a striker.

A goal is a goal agreed but how many times will a player
1. Have the luxury from 18yards,
2. No defenders pursuing or challenging you,
3. The keeper isnt allowed to move before you
4. You settle down think for as long as you want before shooting

If na the test for all strikers be this everyone will be scoring 100 goals per season

Read my post again. I never said all goals are equal as per QUALITY. What I keep repeating is "A goal is a goal". Any how the goal comes, whether beautiful or by scrambling, it's a goal. There is no quality of goal that will be counted as 2. A goal is a goal. That's the angle I'm coming from.

Everyone in this board agrees that the major stats used to judge a striker is goals and assists. Do we still have to sort the quality of goals? What about tap ins? Why not sort out tap ins also? Why only penalties?

The primary objective of a football game is to win a match. How do you win a match? Simply by outscoring the opponent. And penalty is one of the legal way to score a goal. So why would you minus the penalty goals of a player when we start comparing strikers?

I made my comment because of Bigkesh argument that Icardi is a better striker when compared to Lacazzette BECAUSE Lacazzette scored 48% of his goals from the penalty spot. Is that even a point? There is a reason why every team has a penalty taker.

Goals scored is the bone of contention in their argument and Lacazzette clearly is ahead of Icardi. Sorting out the goals scored from the spot is not even a point.

Note here that I am for neither the Lacazzette nor the Icardi camp. I don't really rate any of them. I just wanted to make that point that every goal is a goal.

Not always. Agreed.

But if penalty goals are that simple to score why do great players miss them, even decisive ones?

No one can score all the chances. Even if ball is on goalline and no keeper some people will still miss

@ timbros, you definitely know that taking penalties isn't really a 'special skillset' every penalty is either an 80:20 situation or 70:30. But odds are always very high on scoring a penalty no matter who because it's much easier. Milner has 7 EPL goals, that is higher than sane, Erickson, sterling and Ross Barkley but would you say he is a better goal scorer than these guys??
This is Ronaldo's worst season, he has 18 league goals of which 6 are penalties. Everyone knows he hasn't really been at his usual best this season but you can see how the penalties have bumped his stats.

If Costa was our penalty taker, he would be up there at the top of the log, that goes to show how high his conversion rate has been.
Penalties just pad goal stats which you know don't tell the whole story.

Anyway, about our match today, would I be wrong in wanting zouma to come in for azpi today?? We are going to have a giant in the box today and our opponents scores lots of goals from set pieces, their height average is soo far above ours. Zouma for azpi and matic for fabregas. Anyone thinking in this dimension?

Remember when Bamford was a Crespo like player who needed to be given a shot a Chelsea?

Remember when Bamford wasn't getting games at Norwich, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough because of Club Politics working against loan players?

Now Bimffo, you've signed permanently for Boro and still can't see shirt - what's the problem B?

On Friday, Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka revealed that Patrick Bamford had visited his office to ask why he was not playing. The striker was yet to start after securing his Riverside return in January.

“He came to my office and I was showing him the reason he is not playing now, why he’s not in the team and he understood it,” Karanka said. “I hope he’s ready to play the next game because he came here to help us this season.”

Bimffo didn't even make the Bench for the Stoke game the next day.

Hessss Bimffo and Nateevs help me hold this L real quick...I dey come.

Yeah.

I don't think any short players should play today, West Ham's aerial threat is a really troublesome concern. That height advantage is a really really big deal.

I propose we also bench Kante Hazard and Pedro for RLC, Chalobah and Solanke

.

If your life depends on a game, say if your handpicked team loses, you die.... And you have to choose between a forward with 12 goals and 4 assists but 22 goals if you consider penalties and another with 16 goals and 9 assists without penalties,Your pick sir.

Will you pick a poacher with little link up with teammates or a Tall, Elegant predator with nice technique.....We are talking about a CF that scores a goal for every 30 touch he makes

Are you willing to play sudoku with your life because you hope to get a PK? Especially when you have a PK specialist like Hazard in your team

Lacazette in our team would have 12 goals because he is not gonna take penalties
