Blogging has been my profession for quite sometime now and in the course of it, i have discovered the following strategies to be the best for better blog traffic generation. The ten steps cover the basics, tips on gaining and keeping subscribers through to the extra elements that give the edge.

1. Create Good Quality Content

Content should either educate, entertain, inspire or provide a solution to a readers issue. When writing content ensure that at least one of these elements is incorporated, add pictures, videos and links. Pay attention to detail and check grammar and spelling, in other words proofread everything before going live.

2. Keep Posts Short

Try to keep posts under five hundred words, so that readers with short attention spans, don't lose interest before the end of any given article. I think it's fair to say that a majority of people want quick results and don't want to hang around for too long to get them.

3. Entice Readers to Subscribe

Give readers a freebie, for example, in the form of a downloadable eBook or a video boot camp, thus giving an incentive for subscribing to the web site in question.

4. Interact with visitors

When online users make comments on a blog managed by you, it is in everyone's best interest to correspond, get involved and encourage a natural flow of dialogue.

This is correct but it will not generate visitors if you do not apply SEO strategies and tactics. No one will read your blog if they cannot find it, no matter how good your content is. Imgaine if Martin Luther King had given his famous "I have a dream" speech in an empty room. SEO brings in the visitors while good quality contents makes them come back.

2. Keep Posts Short

Try to keep posts under five hundred words, so that readers with short attention spans, don't lose interest before the end of any given article. I think it's fair to say that a majority of people want quick results and don't want to hang around for too long to get them.

This is one of the most disputed parts of SEO. However, SEO specialists advise you keep your posts to 1890 minimum. There is no hard rule on this though. Just make sure you use enough paragraphing and spacing when writing. That way, it will satisfy people who like long posts and those that like short posts.

This comes after SEO and "good quality content". If they cannot find your blog, they cannot read. And if they cannot read and enjoy, they'll not subscribe - no matter how enticing your freebie is. And if they do, they'll unsubscribe the moment they download the freebie.

This is not necessary. It is advisable but not necessary. It does not drive visitors either but it promotes interaction and forms loyal subscribers.

I can see you're a newbie blogger and I'm yet to understand why you think you should be the one to advise people on how to get visitors on their blog. You did not talk about link building and the likes.
