Gov Willie Obiano's good governance disposition to Ndi Anambra has continued the inspection exercise in the ongoing construction work on the Onitsha - Atani- Osomala-Ogwuikpele road, being undertaken by his administration.

The governor while addressing the people during the inspection exercise, reaffirmed his decision to continue and complete all outstanding projects commenced by his predecessor in line with his campaign promise of continuity.

He acknowledged the strategic status of the road to the administration and the people of the area,saying that when completed, the road would give access to the crude oil wells in Ogwuikpele which would develop the area and attract investors as well as traverse the agrarian communities in the area for easy evacuation of food items.

The governor appealed for the support of the Ogbaru council area citizens to his administration to enable his complete his lofty programmes for the transformation of the area and the entire State and said despite the present economic recession, he will maintain constant release of funds to ensure that the project is completed on schedule.

In their remarks, the Member representing Ogbaru Two Constituency in the State Assembly, Mr Somto Udeze and the state Commissioner for Road, Rail and Water Transportation, Princess Chinwe Nwebili ascertained that the road links 15 communities in the Ogbaru area that produces major food crops in the State. They acknowledged that by executing the project, Gov Obiano has touched the most pressing area in the lives of the citizens. They therefore pledged their support to his administration.

A representative of contracting firm, Mr Mike Okechukwu while commending Gov Obiano for living up to his commitment, which enabled the mobilizing to site despite the present economic crunch, promised that a quality job.

Governor Obiano also made a stop over to inspect construction work on 10.4 kilometer Oba-Umuoji Road where he expressed total disatisfaction with the what the contractor is doing on the site.

He pointed out that with the mobilization fee already paid by his administration to the contractor, significant work ought to have been achieved on the road and assured the people that he has mandated the contractor to cover at least one kilometer asphalt before the rains.But the contractor assured the governor that 1km of the road will asphalted before the raining season.

Gov Obiano today inspected the 14.3km Umunankwo-Mputu- Ogwuaniocha Road in Ogbaru Promising to Build a Bridge into Ihiala.

Over 8km of this all important road which is the only access route into these agrarian communities is now motor-able.

With this link road and bridge those traveling from Lagos/Edo/Delta to Rivers, Imo, Anambra etc will have no need getting inside Onitsha thereby decongesting Upper Iweka and Owerri road.
