For some of us who campaigned hard for PMB, put ourselves through a lot of stress at our own expense to get him elected and have supported the administration for the last 2 years, we should be in the better position to give an honest and more balanced position as we can't be accused of bias. I think PMB consciously decided at some point before his electoral victory to prove wrong his traducers who suggested that he was a dictator who can never abide by democratic ethos. He has thus gone to the other side in a most extreme way by near absconding from his responsibilities. The DSS and every other government apparatchik should ordinarily function without presidential manipulation. That is best practice in functional democracies. However, it is counter-productive in dysfunctional systems like Nigeria as the institutions which the president has left unattended are being brought under the influence of other power brokers. And some of these brokers are even right in there with the president in his party, his administration and even his very own cabal and they are undermining him and degrading his reputation. If PMB adopted this stance for good intentions, it seems to be backfiring big time. He refused to influence the national assembly when this senate and house of reps were being inaugurated and now he has not one single ally in the leadership of both houses. At the party level, the ruling party has not dared to hold a national convention since they won elections in April 2015. This is two years ago now. In the administration itself, I hear that some ministers hardly have access to the president nowadays. Mr. Babachir and Mr. Daura along with Mr. Adesina seem to have become the cabal's sieve through which you must pass to have a chance of seeing the president. The short of the long story is that the mandate is half way now and time is ripe for a cabinet shakeup and appraisal of job done to date. IMO, appraisal score is 39% and is nowhere near good enough. |

[quote author=DonLo post=54665231]This only goes to show...Magu too corrupt. How much be him salary way him they live for 40 million naira rented house while also flying private jet around the country. He didn't pay from his pocket, That's an official residence paid for by the government. As for the private jet, flying in it does not make one corrupt. |

signz:You are on point. The Premium Times story, the leaked memo and Magu's non confirmation are related. Recall also IBB's statement about the PDP returning to power and his meeting with Dickson. Then there is also the interview granted by Junaid Mohammed earlier in the year. What we are witnessing are the first shots being fired at PMB in preparation for replacing him in 2019. From now on, it will be crisis upon crisis, intrigues and plotting, until the INEC blows the whistle for campaigns for the 2019 elections. The PMB regime is dead but unburied; common Nigerians will suffer the smell of its decaying corpse. |

DonLo:It even goes beyond that. This battle is like the one that goes on in the bowels of the earth that makes mountains, soil and minerals. It is a battle between individuals to form institutions of which the EFCC unfortunately is losing. Ignorant Nigerians (as usual) calling for the heads of the Legislature have failed to realise they are crystallising their position across party lines to become a formidable power bloc that will ensure their agenda is futhered into the future while the EFCC/Executive are casting all their lot with just one man Magu who may sleep and not wake up tomorrow morning just as J. Edgar Hoover, the founder of the American FBI did. Fortunately for Hoover, by his demise the FBI was already an institution and even though Hoover was descredited in his later working years, he had seperated himself, his larger than life character, his mystic from the organisation and the organisation had no option than to forge ahead. Can any Nigerian, especially those barking against the Senate mention just one person apart from Magu they feel confident can step into his shoes.... because the man can sleep and not wake up one day just like Hoover. The raucus about the 'Custom Boss customised uniform' is simply because the NCS has not been properly institutionalised. If not what is a retired colonel who knows next to nothing about such a specialist parastatal/organisation head it. Have we ever thought to ourselves why is it that criminals don't just kidnap or kill judges easily to escape sentence or murder policemen to terminate cases or send warning notes to prison wardens to let their felons out....why is it not common..... because one man does not control the system. Because taking out one man does not bring down an institution. Ignorant Nigerians scream that the Legislature is corrupt and that's why they don't want Magu. Equally ignorant people say, 'but there are 200 million Nigerians to take his place', However no one is talking about the EFCC. They don't feel the organisation matters, they don't see its relevance. But that is what matters, the institution. That is why a judge can go home and sleep soundly at night knowing that even if he doesn't wake up, the criminal will never go free. The more the EFCC is tied to Magu, the weaker it gets. Nigerians should educate themselves to raise their mentality to the degree of quality they expect of living in this country. |

MakeADifference:He already has his scapegoats and there are strong cases against them. There are no less than 5 former governors with cases against them in the senate at the moment Buhari has really disappointed me with his indecision and inaction causing more political impasse -First he failed to act early to twath Saraki during the senate President dabacle, his own action(calling a meeting) ultimately gave saraki a window to betray APC -Failed to send Magu's name for confirmation soon as he took office , leaving it till when Magu and EFCC had made enemies within DSS , Senate , Judiciary and the presidency -He didn't select his cabinet on time - Failed to respond effectively to the Babachir Lawal saga -Waited till the dollar had annihilated the Naira before Osinbajo weighed on him to inject some FX into the market - He still has to conclude on the 30billion loan I remain thankful for his denial of the presidency to Jonathan and his thieving posse , but Baba himself should not bother coming back in 2019 , Nigeria does not need an undecided leader ; there is a clear difference between the being slow and being careful - |

Reference:I'm informed by your response Sir. This the most intelligent mention have received today. Nigerians are sentimental, and are quick to jump to the fact that the senators are corrupt hence afraid of Magu. The question we should be asking is whether their reason for not confirming him is tenable of not. That should be the debate. Power must be separated, so also, we must make great institution as that's what will facilitate continuity. Saraki being the Senate president is a kind of plus to Nigerians, if not, anything that comes to the Senate would have been accented to had APC had their way with Lawan. |

Truly, PMB is a lone soldier as far as fight against corruption is concerned. His administration is marred with saboteurs, subjective critics and sycophants. In effect, mindsets of poor masses are being negatively configured towards a worst Nigeria. We are oblivion of the positive effects of his stance on corrupt free and better Nigeria. No one is a saint. Buhari has his weaknesses as a human, but his strengths must be appreciated as well. |
| Re: Magu Is Victim Of ‘Civil War’ In Buhari’s Corrupt Kitchen Cabinet – Shehu Sani by sshalom(m): 11:34am On Mar 17, 2017 |
There is an urgent need for PMB to act decisively and bring to bear his authority over his government. If he cannot do that; he should identify with his deputy and those of same mind to drive Nigeria forward. Enough of this cabal this and cabal that! |
