Is it promoting racism?

If a black man is carrying a white child, I guess you won't call it racism.

That's supposed to be Aladdin and Princess Jasmine in the cartoon /fairytale - ALADDIN and his wonderful lamp.

The black boy is supposed to be Babu- Aladdin's pet MONKEY in the cartoon.
In short, they're depicting blacks as monkeys. I feel its wrong. I'm not sure I see the funny side maybe because I'm black and that "joke" is by another race.
I wonder why they didn't use a child of their race as the monkey character assuming they didn't get a live pet monkey.

I just answered the OPs question, and it was easy for me to link it to racism because I know the story of Aladdin, and his pet monkey. Why use the black boy as a monkey, when you could have gotten other boys as young as he is with their own skin color?

Racism is real, and a serious issue. Only those in the shoes know where it pinches.
Whether it's about PC or not, some people will find it offensive that they used a black child as a monkey. We know blacks are always made fun of and called monkeys. Some will even mock you by making monkey sounds.

Anyway, the boy looks like a "cheeky little monkey", and seems to be catching fun. The adults should know better and be more sensitive.
Even great black footballers experience racism on the field by fans who make monkey sounds, or throw bananas at them
Some practice racism without even knowing they're racist. Some have asked young Africans in unis abroad if they lived on trees back home? That may even sound funny, but it still doesn't take away the sting.

The guy and the lady here don't look white

Apart from that why use a child to depict the monkey, it looks so aladin and Jasmine, the outfits -style of clothes, the hairstyle of the lady almost everything looks synonymous to aladin and jasmine.
The hairstyle, even the earrings and necklace, style of the top and a major color of the outfit of jasmine was blue. The monkey also wore that cuplike stuff on his head in the cartoon.

If it was a child that was used in the cartoon its a different thing entirely but considering it was a monkey.

It doesn't even matter the race of the child used but why use a child to represent a monkey? Its offensive enough to do that not to talk of using a black child to represent a monkey when it seems you are from another race. People will find this offensive , very offensive.


There's no way they can say this is not about the aladin cartoon and we all know who the child represents , BTW where's magic carpet and the genie.

Anyway it does look like they were just having fun sha, but its not funny at all.

Made me remember that song a whole new world.

Op you are100% correct, racism is exactly what it is. This is the situation, the monkey wasn't attainable for them so they got the closest thing that looks like a monkey to them which is a black child, you see, to them they can't see any difference. It's sad that your fellow people are coming down on you for seeing the situation for what it is, so it's not you it's them, they are very naive.
The child parents are at fault and they need a stiff kick in the AZZ. Imagine how this child will feel when he grows up and see's this picture knowing that people thought that he could pass as a monkey. It's embarrassing how naive some people are.

You are being very,very very naive, this picture screams racism, if they didn't see this child as a monkey they would have done what a prior poster suggested and chosen a child like themselves.
