What some people don't understand is that even if Dollar goes down to 150naira, it doesn't concern the ordinary Nigerian man, unless price simple food items go back to normal. So as long as everything is still on the high side, Nigeria is still in recession to these ordinary Nigerians.
What you don't understand dear (and those who liked your comment) is, prices/inflation is proportional to the value of your currency in relation to the dollar.

Everything takes time . . . heading in the right direction is key, imagine we are at N620 to a dollar now in lieu of N420 (actually N400-405 now).

Ohhhh! But the increasing tendencies we were experiencing before affected common man Abi?

You guys fed on the depreciation of naira to spite the govt and now that naira is appreciating, it doesn't affect the common man anymore.

And for heaven's sake, if not for our hypocrisy and wickedness, what has dollar got to do with prices of garri and palm oil? We take advantage of bad situations in this country too much. We citizens are as bad as the govt, we don't like each other.

Now that naira has appreciated, can garri sellers reverse their prices? I doubt....

How long will they continue to fight this lost battle
After britexit the price of oil will drop
And the dollar income will drop
Will they continue to use our reserves to fight this war
Besides devaluation is around the corner
Only the wise will start stocking this cheap dollars
Cos once they devalue
The naira will fall more
Besides intervention is a form of churning the gold
Go read history how Rome fell and how romans began to churn the gold coins
Naira will fall so hard
The smart money knows this
I see 700naira to a dollar cool

The Naira, Tuesday, appreciated further to N420 per dollar in the parallel market prompted by increased dollar supply and declining demand.

Vanguard investigations revealed that the parallel market exchange rate, which closed N430 per dollar on Monday, dropped by N15, yesterday, to N420 per dollar. Consequently, the Naira has appreciated against the Dollar by N25 or 5.6 per cent, this week.
According to a Bureaux De Change (BDC) chief executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the market is experiencing boost in dollar supply due to the sustained intervention of the CBN in the foreign exchange market.

Also confirming this development, President, Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON), Alhaji Aminu Gwadabe said this trend will continue provided the apex bank sustains its intervention in the interbank market. He however urged the CBN to also consider increasing weekly dollar sale to BDCs as well as aligning the exchange rate at which they purchase the dollar to the rate at which the CBN sells to the banks. The CBN sells dollars to BDCs at N381 per dollar while it sells to banks at exchange rate ranging from N315 to N360 per dollar.

Since Monday February 20th 2017, when it announced new measures to boost dollar supply and forestall the declining fortunes of the naira in the parallel market, the CBN has injected $2.26 billion by intervening in the forex market 11 times as follows:

Tuesday February 21st, $417 million; Thursday February 23rd, $231 million; Monday February 27th, $180 million; Friday March 3, $350 million; Monday March 6, N367 million; Tuesday March 7, $100 million; Thursday March 9, $170 million; Tuesday March 14, $190 million; Wednesday March 14, $150 million; Thursday March 16, $100 million and Monday March 20, $143 million.

Receive some sense!

what was the Oil forex revenue when GEJ was in power.

Also, whilst GEJ used our reserves to defend the Naira,a very stupid policy,PMB is using current proceeds to flood the market with forex, very good but temporary measure.

People can be so shallow minded in thinking undecided

Price of diesel - for one - is heavily driven by exchange rate. Ditto fuel price. These affect ordinary Nigerians.

bros what is inflation ? what always lead to inflation and how can we check it.? if u can provide solution to all these den u will knw dat ur conclusion is wrong. sorry to say
Re: Naira Watch: Naira Appreciates To N420/$ by dabraska: 8:32am On Mar 22, 2017
I sincerely hope this is not setting a wrong precedence. If you keep pumping dollars into the economy, the people who know that it isn't sustainable will mop up all the dollars, increasing the risk at which the naira will fall when a temporary scarcity occurs. Let's all use our brains and stop shouting Sai Baba upandan!

This is so temporary that I'm beginning to fear for our country. Except if we are already putting the things in place to ease stress on the demand for the dollar, then this is a commendable move. But at the moment, I haven't seen anything of such.

I am only saying when price of commodities especially locally produced food items start coming down, that's when the common man can feel the change in the economy. Ask yourself since naira started appreciating, have there been any reduction in price of locally produced food items?

Well said my brother.. What has the poor man got to do with dollar whether high or low. Some have never seen or touched it in real life self.
That is true, the exchange rate can decide to skyrocket to N1000, it doesn't affect us. Whether the dollar goes up or down rice will still be costly, palm oil will still be sold high, petrol will still be N145, diesel will still be sold for N280 and BRT will still be N300. I duff my cap for your rare trait of intelligence. Keep it!!
