HELLO reasonable nairalanders,please i need your advice,i work as a chef in ikorodu area of lagos ,one day i approach my OGA to ask HIM if he will allow me to re-write my WASCE,he was ok to accept my request,as the exam is approaching and he is to buried his mother on the 20th of april,the day am due to write maths,but when i told him that i will not be able to travel to vilage with them becos of my exam,he was very mad at me and started shouting,and ask me to cancel the exam, i dont know what to do?

tell other colleagues in the work place to help you beg him

Go and write your exam. Don't beg him, do not give any indication that you are against his wishes. On the day of the exam switch off your phone and go for the exams. Even if he's paying you 100k per month, it is not enough to mortgage your future for.
The worst that can happen is for him to fire you or refuse to pay you for the month, but the truth of the matter is anyone who would tell you to forfeit your exam for the sake of the burial of a dead old woman does not have good intentions for you.
Bottom line : It is time for you to sack your boss and look for employment elsewhere.

You don't ask your boss if he will allow you to go for exams, you tell him that you are going for exams.

I believe U are matured enough to know what is good for U.
He does not want Ur progress in life, just go and write Ur exams unless U want to still be working for him and be controlled in the next next 5 years.

sorry .. i dint ask him to allow me to write.... it was the registration that i ask him for....bt becos he told me we are traveling to vilage,thats why i say i have exam on the say date.
