Despite Israelites being chosen God's Heritage from Biblical perspective , the wars the Israelites fought against some other nations were never fought for God . But when a prophet, leader or king of Israel give order based on instruction from the revered prophet of God. In some instances when the children of Israel faulted by taking the belonging of these subdued kingdoms if God had instructed them not to do so, they got punished for it. Bible didn't sanctioned it in that manner as you feel.

But even when we look at it. Christianity still kills. Take for example the US. The US is a Christian country founded on judeo-christian values. This country has killed millions of innocent people . Another example is the infamous Rwandan genocide that happened some years ago. There was an army called the army of Christ that was used to wipe out more than 70percent of the entire Hutu population. Check it out. 70 percent of an entire population in this modern world? No religion has ever killed such huge number, not in this century. But why did the press downplay this issue? Beacaue the army was acting according to the bible as they said, and they were not shy to admit that they were fighting as instructed by Christ.

God asked that a whole generation should be wiped out by his choosen people as you people claimed . Jesus was also quoted in the bible to have said that he has not come to bring peace into the world . But he was sent to create enmity, chaos and war by making a father and his son enemies. This verse is quoted during a battle.


2. Example of war between America and Vietnam

We know that America was once at war with Vietnam. Suppose the President of America or the General of the American Army told the American soldiers during the war: “Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them”. Today if I say that the American President said, “Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them” without giving the context, I will make him sound like a butcher. But if I quote him in context, that he said it during a war, it will sound very logical, as he was trying to boost the morale of the American soldiers during the war.


3. Verse 9:5 quoted to boost morale of Muslims during battle

Similarly in Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 5 the Qur’an says, “Kill the Mushriks wherever you find them”, during a battle to boost the morale of the Muslim soldiers. What the Qur’an is telling Muslim soldiers is, don’t be afraid during battle; wherever you find the enemies kill them.

Arun Shourie is one of the staunchest critics of Islam in India. He quotes the same verse, Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 5 in his book ‘The World of Fatawas’, on page 572. After quoting verse 5 he jumps to verse 7 of Surah Taubah. Any sensible person will realize that he has skipped verse 6.
