Economy started growing in negative which made nigeria to lose biggest economy to south africa in 1st quarter of 2016 after it was rebased in dollars.
Nigeria regained its position back in 3rd quarter of 2016 after re basing but was put at 480billion dollars due to the recession.

Citations please. And not Nigerian newspapers. In which planet does s/Africa have a higher GDP than Iran and on what basis? Purchasing Power Parity or nominal? In nominal terms, Iran's economy is bigger than Nigeria's. Nigeria's economy is only bigger than Iran's when ranked on PPP basis.
