Today seem to be a day of animals turning into old women in Nigeria. First it was in Port-Harcourt were it was alleged that a bird turned into an old woman when the said bird was electrocuted by power line and fell on the ground, now its Lagos where a cat allegedly turned into an old woman. We may hear another one before the end of today. According to Facebook user Energetic Jay, the incident happened in Lagos. This is what he wrote, Wonders....i use to think it's only in Nigerian movie,cat do turn to human.. Not until one happen for my area this morning... Here they go again, they have lynched a helpless old woman and accuse her of being a cat turned woman.. They damage these nonsensical beliefs hewn from western cultures, mythology and religions has done to us is unmatched. Put into perspective the damage Christianity and Islam has done to the Nigerian society will take years to be repaired. In Africa it is our culture to protect the weak, respect the aged and revere them. Have you not noticed how the so called witches are always the weak and poor of the society? Old women and children. the amount of old females who endure such maltreatment is becoming too much, its not a bird now its a cat, but once again an old female suffers for it, they won't see anything to prove their stance but will conclude she is a witch and what a defenseless witch she is, urgh, annoying! |
