I laugh when people say that Igbo people are hostile to outsiders. Is it the East I know or another East elsewhere? Maybe Middle-East. U have lots of Hausa people doing business in the East but how many times have you had of them being killed? Compare it to the north were every year comes with its own religious killings and which has earned a reputation as a no-go zone in Nigeria. I sometimes wonder what influences pples thinking.

For so long on Nairaland there has been this erroneous belief that the South-west is very investment friendly and this accounts for th level of investment there. The south-west has the same problem the rest of Nigeria has that is poor infrastructure and high crime rate and is not friendly to investment that is why businesses prefer smaller Africcan countries.
It is just that Lagos which is Nigeria's commercial capital and has held that position even before Yoruba rule in Lagos began in 1999 is contiguous to other south-west states and therefore investment spills to the other South-west states like Ogun due to Lagos being choked up.
If there is any other reason for this please tell me why industries do not site in places like Ibadan,Osun,Akure Ekiti etc?

Awka - ONE of Nigeria's most successful conglomerates, the Dangote Plc, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Bontus Group of Companies based in Onitsha for the supply and distribution of all Dangote products in the commercial city.

Director in charge of Dangote in the South East, Mr. Tunde Mabogunje signed for his company, while the chairman of Bontus Group, Chief Uche Okafor, signed for his company.

Okafor said at the signing ceremony that with the agreement, all Dangote products, including sugar, cement, noodles, rice and tomato, would soon flood the eastern part of the country at very competitive prizes.

as an onitsha based trader, i can boldly tell you that Lagos was in decline until obasanjo killed the eastern ports.the same way he wasted trillions building gas power plants in the southwest without gas deposits and ended up not adding a single megawatt of electricity. fashola have started the same route, you need to read the Edwin Clark interview and shed tears. the same fashola caused the current crises in the Niger Delta by trying to relocate the national maritime university from the Delta to Lagos. all these money comes from the oil Wells in the south east and south south.

4. I have established that fact to those that missed it that Dangote didnt invest in the east, whether a WAREHOUSE or a FACTORY
5. One Chief Uche Okafor (An Easterner I suppose) is the person who has just gotten an MoU signed with Dangote to distribute & suplly Dangote products across the east. He is the investor, not Dangote
6. Obasanjo has just been blamed for killing the Federal Eastern ports. Fashola is also being blamed for destroying Power in the East!
7. What is stopping the entire Governors from the East coming together and get a PPP-led Port development in the East so it can get the chunk of cargo Lagos port gets? This should also help businesses decide to open factories/industries in the East? Maybe you should help me answer this.
Same with Power - In case you aren't aware. Lagos State Secretariat and major Courts have been powered by IPP for more than 4 years. They are totally disconnected from PHCN Grid. Why can't this happen in the East?

9. I will give you a scenario: Lagos through its Governor and its NASS representative requested Lagos get Special Status and earn more from National Cake. The idea was killed immediately, especially by Northern NASS members.
Then it came back to the floor of the NASS with other States asking for the same Special Status along with Lagos. These other States included the same northern states that killed the dream.
The lesson here is the NASS members and Governors of these States were able to LOBBY, and be heard. Very soon, they will get this passed, and enjoy Special Status and get more from National Cake.

Honestly my brother I shudder at such outrageous claims! That is why I keep telling some e-idiots here to leave their confinements and witness what's going on in other areas. One thing I love about us the Igbos, we don't listen to hearsays whenever it concerns making something out of our lives, we make sure we experience it!

Parly!u guyz keep saying eastern senators,house of rep members ad ministers shuld fight for eastern interest on de floor and am sure u guyz know deep inside you that dere is no way they can successfully do that cos you know who de majorities are on de floor..Ok what of the many motions they moved on the floor how many did they pass?They have moved many motions concerning additional state,erosion,dredging river niger etc how many did the hate filled senators pass?
About dangote not investing in de east, you and I know that dangote is a silent tribalist you can take it or leave it..
