check this thread and follow the diagram in setting the apparatus

https://www.nairaland.com/3705341/confused-english-used-physics-practical

Then watch this video to see how the suspension will oscillate

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrG7xhrLbWo

Also check the second oscillation in this

That's right. You are very correct. That earlier values was done by someone, I told him to vary the length of threads/strings but instead he varied the length on metre rule & that's why t increases as L decreases. But for this lengths of thread variation, L decreases as t decreases.
I tried performing the Q3 too. At first, when I used the jockey to make contacts with the potentiometer, the ammeter and voltmeter gave values like 1.2A and 0.7V. But now both of them are not even moving at all. I have tried severally but they aren't making any distortion. And the readings in the past question I have are wrong. Could you please help me around this or if you could give me readings from the ones you have done or have.

Thanks

Is this how vertical oscillation moves in metre rule?,the whole metre rule doesn't move like in simple pendulum, its only the end of the metre rule that will be moving

Check the arrows in the diagram from that thread. Also watch the second video too, the second movement is the right oscillation.

maybe your connection is wrong,,,,wen I did mine, for 10cm am getting like 3A,0.7v,,,,,,and it will start reducing as the potentiometer distance is increasing

I have checked the thread,,,, wat I want you to clarify for me now is dat,,the first video,,,it's only the end of the equipment in the setup that is oscillating,,is dat the vertical axis motion or horizontal?

That's the vertical oscillation.

I just carried out the Q1 experiment in the lab..

As my L decreases from 80cm to 40cm, the time t decreases from 14.52s to 10.28cm. This is contrary to the supposed trend.

What do you think?
The aim of the Experiment is to determine the relationship between the length of the string L and the period of oscillation T.

T square increase as Long increase and vice versa. so you have no worry.

This is because the current/voltage that flows through the circuit increases the brightness of the bulb as x(cm)/resistance increases.
ok.

thank you, brother

I connected the circuit exactly the way it is in the past question.

I connected it such that the ammeter is in series with the potentiometer and voltmeter is in parallel with it. the cells and key are in series with the potentiometer. While the voltmeter, ammeter and the bulb are connected in series. I connected the jockey to the positive terminal of the voltmeter..

Please put me through if this connection of mine is wrong. i will try and snap the connection so you can see.

If you have perfected yours, please kindly help me with readings. this is my number

no matter what if your connection is right, the ammeter Nd voltmeter will deflect to the right,if you are not getting any readings or its deflecting to the negative side, your connection is wrong or the voltmeter and ammeter are not good,,,am not with the readings,,it's my students that have it

Check your connection,,you shld have 2 wires connected to one wire of the potentiometer making three wires connected at point P,one from ammeter, one from voltmeter and the wire originally on the potentiometer ( I connected all the negative wires in this aspect that's black wire),I connected the positive red wire of the ammeter and the positive red wire of the voltmeter to the bulb,i trim Part of the red voltmeter wire and use anoda wire to join from dat trim side to the Jockey,,,,the other positive side of the potentiometer is going to the positive side of the battery, while the negative side of the potentiometer where there are three connected wires go to the negative side of the battery...that's the connection

N.B: I didn't use key because we don't have and we couldn't get it,so I joined the wire together directly at that point

there is no way I can get it,,,,,but I knw the first ammeter reading will be between 2.9-3.0A Nd voltmeter between 0.7-0.9 for 10cm on the potentiometer and dere after decreasing by .2 or .1 on the ammeter and like .5 on voltmeter

I thought the trend is as x increases from 10cm to 60cm, current and voltage also increase..

All this fellas are lying. The voltmeter and ammeter doesn't move together following the connection in the diagram and the bulb doesn't light. its either the voltmeter reads or the ammeter reads. Someone shud snap the connection let's see.

Yes. Just place the apparatus facing infront of u. Make sure, the screens of the ammeter & voltmeter are facing u, all at its position. Then, u can start connecting the wires from terminal to terminal without displacing their positions. Note, two ba3 are to be connected.

Thanks to the man who called me from Offa, Kwara state now. He wants you guys to air your views on his opinion. It makes a lot of sense to me though.

This can be applied instead of going through the stress of performing the practical. It also confirms the trend that as x increases, V and I also increase. You can confirm with the other values of x=20,30,40,50 and 60cm.

this makes lots of sense,,,but u can compare theory with practical,,,,the you know the value of Ur current is o.265 which cannot be obtainable on the ammeter reading, which explains my value of 0.3A for the first one is correct, which is obtainable from your calculation if you approximate 0.26 to 0.3,,,,,the reason you can't use the theory stuff is dat, what u will get as answer will not be obtainable on the voltmeter and ammeter reading which justify the reason you should Carry out the experiment truly
modified
Another thing is that, when you are performing the practical,ur EMF cannot be exactly 3.0v,it will be slightly less than 3.0v,,,,,,but what I see in this calculation is that,we can use it to predict our answers in the practical
