LOL. You need to understand strains before delving into broiler production. Time they say is money and some strains hit table size before others. For each hatchery come different strains.

From the little I know, broilers from reputable hatcheries will grow big if fed very well. I have bought from backyard hatcheries and still got acceptable result. With proper care things will most likely turn out fine. JUST MY AMATEUR OPINION!

EMMAACHILE:

I was surprised to see tuns broilers in an uncustomised box. It doesn't tell well of the farm.

I understand that because some farms even within Lokoja here have very good birds who are unknown household names. But a large farm should have a customise box imho.

I believe hatcheries are trying to cut costs by not going for expensive boxes that will be discarded as soon an the birds get to their destination. My zartech chicks I got in January came in brown cartons but the fidan chicks I got last month came in a very beautiful customized carton.

Just out of curiosity, how much do u think is the difference BTW a plain carton and a branded one ?
Negligible if u compare ,even more so when u consider the value of the doc inside the box

Using customized is for branding ,to distinguish ur product and sell at a better margin .even though ur quality might not be better smiley

Re: ... by Turks: 4:00pm On Apr 09, 2017
Agrited hatchery has the Ross 308 PS hence their commercial broilers. They can hit 1kg -1.1kg or more in 4weeks if management practice and feeding regimen is on point. We can supply you sir if you want. State borders isn't a barrier as we ship nationwide. Attached is a picture of a Ross strain at day 5.

pls, can I be supplied at ado-ekiti if I make orders from the same link you posted here? in addition, would there be other transport charges on my orders?
Re: ... by Turks: 8:30pm On Apr 09, 2017
I disagree sir. In terms of height, breastmeat, lean meat and weight, the Ross strain is a force to reckon with.
EMMAACHILE:

One of the best hatcheries in Nigeria.
Ross 308 would not out perform an Arbor Acre plus or Cobb broiler strain over a 7 week period. They are still virtually the same

If you talk of breastmeat and lean meat, the Cobb is a force to be reckoned with. It was developed and known for its large breast meat and lean meat meaning low fat composition.

Personally, I make use of wood shaving and it has worked for me thus far. From Day 1 to Day 3, I spread newspaper over the woods having to prevent the chicks from picking and ingesting woodshaving particles from the floor till they're able to differentiate the taste of woodshaving from the taste of feed. Rice husk is also alright but it's not readily available at my location.

Day 5
I got a room thermometer today and the pen was unbelievably reading 39 degrees Celsius in the afternoon when my room temperature was 35 degrees.

Brooding chicks temperature should be first week in the range of 29.7-32 degrees Celsius. While the second week should be minimum of 26.7 degrees Celsius.

This means I might not use heat from Day 6. I will monitor night temperatures from today and see the range from night to morning.
How much do you get the room thermometer
