Before she had the baby, before she got pregnant, before she became resident in Otobo Gbame, this woman belonged somewhere. She needs to return to that somewhere. Its called survival skill!

Humans have innate recall and strive to overcome adversity and survive. If a person is faced with a situation that threatens their security and life and refuses to shift, adjust, repose and remove the threat then they are mentally, spiritually and physically demented and retarded.

Lagos State is a land of survival, you either make it or restrategize and try again. No one should die trying, unless they have lost the instinct for survival.....and in that case they are better off dead than becoming burden and a threat to the security and life of others who strive and beat the odds.

No, Govt must not intervene. If you are not strong enough to find a way out of this and survive then you are weak and unfit for the hustle of Lagos life to begin with....Get out!

Survival is for the strong. This is the life the baby chose, this is the life it want for it to be strong. Don't be surprised that baby will survive it all.

Not so cool opinion, dude. However, I still respect your opinion.

Government is not for the rich only. Government should focus mainly on uplifting the plights of the poor. They are the majority.

There will always be material, physical and psychological casualties when government demolish an established eco-system for infrastructural development. But it can be done with an human face.

Govt should have had a reserved low-cost settlement and relocated them before demolishing the shanties. If the alternative is put in place and some of the people are still defiant, you force them out.

Dude, until it happened to you, then would you understand the pains.

Sometimes I imagine where some people come from and how they reason. I wonder when we as a people we begin to empathize with one another

I believe you are one of the privileged few that has things going on well for him,so I see no reason why you will empathise for her.
Let me paint a picture for you ,just within the coming of this government I have lost over 18miilion capital just because of the policy and poor economic management.
Pray misfortune does not get at you soon as many people have lost quite a lot within The two years of this government in power ,on the flip side I commend Ambode for his visionary leadership and in the manner has improved Lagos over his predecessor ,but I must tell you these people would have been provided alternatives
My humble opinion !!!

The government needs to provide alternative for them, I think we have such facility in ikorodu during fashola era just to alleviate the sufferings of people for stipulated timeframe ,what stops the government from making such camps available within that we axis to take care of these. However, this is not an excuse as you'd think a well meaning government would have planned for better settlements for affected citizens.

The Land Use Act 1974 has for decades contemplated situations like this. Payment of adequate of adequate compensatory reliefs to those whose landed properties would be acquired by government for public benefits.

E get one ready-to-occupy estate-like property composed of so many beautiful apartments for Alimosho wey just dey there for many years now dey look me anytime I dey pass. It is supposed to serve purposes like this and provide temporary residential reliefs to residents.

I don't think this is the case here, I believe that land didn't belong to the residents.
This isn't the first time government will be taking over landed properties, even if
they don't pay compensation, the approach is different.
The way I see this is an owner reclaiming his/her property, though the humane thing
to do is provide an alternative to the evicted residents.
