Failure to do that, they will continue to lose even up to the supreme court.It is the EFCC that is alleging that the money is a proceed of crime. The onus is on them to prove it.I don't ever see them winning especially since Mama peace did not hold any political appointment and the bayelsa state government did not complain to anyone that their $5.9m is missing

What you should be asking is why hasn't the EFCC been able to establish before the court that Patience Jonathan acquired the money from criminal activities. It is their job to PROVE that she got the money illegally, not to ask foolish questions about how she got it. She doesn't owe them any explanation, and they have no right to dispute any explanation she chooses to offer.

I may not have a conventional job (the idea of a 9-5 job is not for everyone), but I can make a million dollars in one day simply by being a middle man or a broker. I can link Mr A with Mr B and facilitate a massive transaction between them, and get paid a commission that runs into millions. Will you now see me living my kind of lifestyle and ask stupid questions like where do you work and what do you do? If you can prove that I got my money illegally, tender the evidence and stop asking foolish questions!

Not everyone is cut out for working in one mumu office, earning one mumu salary, and settling for a mediocre existence. Some people choose to use their brains and scheme out a good life for themselves. You shouldn't be asking them foolish questions if you don't know how they got the money they have.

Most of the comments here have their merits and demerits. It is a fact that thousands of present and former government officials have looted this country since independence and very few (less than 1%) of them have been brought to book.

This singular action of not being able to jail corrupt officials over the decades has largely led to the present value system we have in the country today. If you loot and can escape justice, many more people would strive to occupy those position knowing that when you loot you will almost always escape justice.

Now to the main matter at hand. PMB campaigned and is now claiming to fight corruption. This is a very good thing considering how successive govts just couldn't stomach enough political will as well as a genuine overhauling of the criminal justice system in order to achieve genuine fight against corruption. On paper PMB seems to be fighting corruption at least in some cases but when he looks the other way in some other very glaring cases he brings 'hypocrisy' into the entire campaign which is very unfortunate. This the reason why most youths from the SS and SE tend to defend their own because PMB and indeed most northern leaders hardly ever descend hard on looters from from the north but are quick to chase looters from the south. It's more annoying to theses youths that all looters got their loot directly or indirectly from the resources from the NIger Delta. Looters are looter and there is no reason to defend a looter but PMB should also beam his corrupt fight searchlight on the very many northern present and past govt officials who are/were fantastically corrupt.
