If existing political parties have an ideology then people won't be jumping ships to achieve their aim cos it will mean that they don't have an ideology themselves. There are families in UK who have been Democrats for as long as it's been existing, whether they're in power or not. That's how it should be. |

Both the PDP and the APC are weak for the very same reasons why politicians find it so easy to jump between them: both parties stand for nothing more than power for its own sake, for the purpose of looting the public purse. Can anyone name a single ideological principle that sets the APC apart from the PDP? And no, repeatedly calling oneself "progressive" does not constitute a political ideology. For Nigeria to ever make headway, both of these parties will have to die, and be replaced with structures built up from the grassroots, with solid political principles and active membership bases, instead of taking their orders from a few godfathers who have made their money through embezzlement and fraud. Unfortunately, the great mass of Nigerians are too divided by tribalism, religious bigotry and the blind worship of material "success" (however obtained) for such a prospect to be realistic. |

There was no technical difference between PDP and APC. That is why they both go kpai very soon. Those that destroy this country Nigeria and take refuge in APC thinking they can escape the thunder are only dreaming. They will drink from the wine they served the suffering masses whether PDP or APC |

Out democracy reflects our values as a people. How can people who can't unite a simple entity called family unite a party or a country? Aggregation of failed family men and women will produce failed parties and country. Leadership starts from home. Let's look for people with sound family values, make them leaders and see how our national life will transform. |

Prof has said what we have been saying here forever...which is that both parties have not held national conventions since 2014! They both cannot dare to hold one as that will be the very end of the party. Political parties in Nigeria, and indeed most of Africa, are nothing more than SPVs which politicians use to ride to power positions after which all man is OYO! Politicians join parties where they see openings and opportunity for them to rise to the top, not that their is some synchronization of ideologies. The followers and mass of the population also don't help. Africans seem to be incapable and/or unwilling to be involved in participatory democracy. Most Africans have never registered to vote, don't vote, have never been involved in a rally, campaign or protest ever. Hardly has any African, illiterate or educated, ever participated in signature gathering to recall a failed elected leader nor have they ever participated in a town hall meeting to engage their home coming representative. My basic point is that power misbehaves when not held accountable and that African people seem unable/unready to hold power accountable after elections. This is why Nigerian politicians have so much room to misbehave and switch parties as they like because they know that we will allow them. |

Go back to Ground Zero, to Babangida's SDP and NXX. They must not be Government Parastatals. The two Parties can be organised by OBJ AND IBB or let OBJ take over The Management and Control of APC, while IBB takes over PDP. These two are very competent and experienced Managers. They know this Country very well and can't be easily manipulated by Foreigners. Before then, our present 36 States must have Full Autonomy with regards to Sourcing and Spending their Finances. The Presidency must be limited to Foreign Affairs, Military, Treaties and Liaisons for the 36 States with Foreign Countries for Homeland Security. |
