Good evening mamas, pls your sister needs your undiluted advice. Anyone gone through this bf? My DD was born at 35wks weighed 2.5kg.....She loves food but latching is our greatest challenge, she sucks a lil and gets tired, we continue like that for almost 3hrs and after all the wahala...She is still hungry, then I end up expressing breastmilk and then add formula later on. Am lactating very very well and I wake her every 2hrs to eat 100-120ml. Now, the matter is we went for 6wks immunization and annoyingly she only added 2kg so she is now 2.7kg. We use SMA gold as formula with cup and spoon. Now am advised to top up her intake using feeder..Did that today and my wonderful lady still didn't change, rather she couldn't eat well, had to give her expressed breastmilk and formula as she was too hungry
Abeg help me.

2kg added to 2.5 should be 4.5kg! Unless you meant she added just 200gram which I doubt for a formula fed baby at 6 weeks old.

Keep giving her frequent feeds she will bulk up eventually, note not all babies are built to be fat and chubby.

Check to be sure her mouth covers your areola and not just the nipple when she sucks and position her appropriately.

If your nipple is inverted may also make latch difficult.

Mouth thrush and tongue tie is another reason.

This is the baby "eczema" we were talking about some days ago.
What worked for us is E45 moisturizing lotion. One mama said Vaseline worked for her, Shea moisture baby eczema range worked for one and another said Aveeno eczema therapy worked. So choose what you can based on your pocket
Thank you ma'am,I will read up and take measures...

Chai my dear here are the possible causes of that patch:
Very hot water: pls I beg reduce that hot water to warm please

Soap: use baby soap and not medicated or antiseptics its too harsh on baby skin

Powder: in case you use mentholated dusting power, stop.

If you're guilty of one of the above, stop it asap then it will vanish on its own. May God help us.

Doynb, I agree with this.

I made mistake in purchasing this pampers for my baby. I didn't see the inscription of Pants there but I have no choice of wearing it for her. As any other mama used Pampers pant before.

Her weight tally with the pampers description.

This is actually my favourite brand/type of diapers. kiss kiss

They actually started with a size 4 and I was pleased to see they had introduced a size 3 some few months ago which means it's suitable for younger babies.

I have been using it since my baby was around 8 months old and now he's almost 20months old.

Alphahandmaiden, there's no flaw with its design jare. grin The classic diapers can be a struggle to put on and take off (without staining everywhere with poo) especially when you've got an active toddler.

With both the classic/pant diaper, I always make sure I have a scented nappy bag at hand which I put the poo filled diaper into before disposing into the bin. If I fail to do this, the house is almost guaranteed to smell the next day thanks to the smell of poo from the dustbin.

Thank you for your response ma'am. I do not think I'm guilty of any of the listed except if Agnesia powder and chicco soap counts but I'll be on the look out...

Getting a random nanny to stay home with a child is a no no for me grin
Look for a good creche esp attached to a school and be a generous mummy wink pray hard and everything would fall in place.

Yes you can give them chocolate drinks, I will say twice a week is fair due to their emerging teeth and not to have them get sweet tooth early in life.

I never used toddler milk. I heard that 123 is very sugary! You may need to search for other toddler milk with less sugar or just go for regular full cream milk.

Oh thanks so much. I will. Find out about other ones

Tea has some caffein in it. So its not advisable.
For all the other beverages, wait till at least a year old. All she should be having now is milk and water, not even fruit juice .

I believe someone mentioned you can blend with fruits.... that is another healthier way to add variety

Later on if you decide to give other drinks, reduce the quantity of the beverage or dilute well,

for instance if i want to give dd milo, i fill the cup with milk and add a small teaspoon of milo just enough to change the colour and taste abit.

For ribena and other squash like drinks.... add more water than you would for an older person.

Plus.... sometimes the thrill for this children isnt what they are drinking but the fact that it is coming from a cup!
Okies.
Thankz mama.

Will try d cup n see cos shes always staring hard at my orange mug.
And i notice she likes her water cup cos its blue....she's always attracted to the cup b4 taking water.
Thankz much.

True talk. The only issue I have is the poop removing. My DD will clock 4month next week and it has been perfect. Thinking of moving to huggies because it's seems cheaper here sef.

Hi, I'm a ftm too. I had to put my son in a dayhome at 2 weeks old because I'm in school and want to finish my program on time without any extensions. What I did was give him formula to take during the day and breastfeed him only at night. He is doing fine, he will soon be four months old. His care provider spoils him even, and he is always excited to see her. I don't regret my decision one bit. My studies is going fine and my supervisor even nominated me for two conference trips. I couldn't be happier and my baby is happy too. Its better than bringing in a random nanny into your home. Its a difficult decision but you won't regret it. Abi no be your pikin go chop the salary.

My advice to u is to find a very good creche. I started creche hunting when my baby was abt 8 weeks old...I asked friends n relatives, n even Nairalanders for recommendations. Eventually it was d guy DT fixed our inverter DT recommended one very close to my office, his 2 daughters attended d creche from 3 months n now they r in nursery in d same school.

My baby is on formula and bm, so we B.feed in d morning after dressing till we get to d crèche (7.30am). When I am away they give her formula then anytime between 12-1pm, I come in for afternoon feed, after which they continue wt formula till I close (4pm). From 4pm till daybreak na b.feeding things.

My DD started creche at 3 months n now she is 4 months n 2 weeks. There r just 2 babies there, my DD and an 8 month old baby.

Resignation wasn't an option for me oo, so I had t put in efforts n make sacrifices. Trust me shuttling to n from creche 3 times a day isn't easy but its worth it.

Also, DH and I de dash d nanny small small money every weekend, not because we have excess to throw around but na just make she de happy de take care of our Zara baby.

The Lord is ur strength mama!

I bought from mouka foam (baby cot mattress wt macintosh cover) n then gave it to d carpenter to take measurements b4 making d cot.
That way it doesn't end up too small or too big.
