What makes it even worse st times is that the passengers will be urging the driver on..

The other day I almost got killed in a bus when the driver started swerving roughly for no reason.

Quite sure he was drunk

I'm sure that you wouldn't blame yourself for this. Do you really think that reckless drivers listen to passengers complain about overspeeding? No, they don't listen.

Not always is over-speeding the cause, at times it is unwillingness to compromise, to give way on the part of the trailer drivers, at other times, it is the failure of the bus driver to assume the worst when dealing with other road users and take precautions based on a worst case scenario

Last time I was in Nigeria and had to use this same bus line, I wore my seat belt, I was the only one that did, every other passenger except the driver did not wear a seat belt ( am not saying that it would save lives in the event of a frontal collision, but it would/could minimize damage in such an event)

That's where the horrible road begins. From Okene into Benin.

The roads have been that way for years and are getting worse by the day with accidents and loss of lives occurring on a daily basis.

You'll wonder whether this Country has any form of leadership.

What a country !

I do not know what caused this accident but I can tell you that it's not only bad roads that cause accident. Overspeeding and recklessness on the part of drivers have a large portion of the blame. The question is why should driver speed on highways when everyone knows that the roads are bad.

Where's our speed limit propaganda? You see, some of these drivers need to have a neurological evaluation. Some are under the influence of drugs. This make them reckless and lion hearted.

The roads from Okene down to Benin are dearth traps. Traveled on that road today, and I cry for Nigeria.my shocks are gone. Got to change them when I get back.
