I have been stating for the last 5 years that Iniesta had absolutely nothing to do with Barca's famed midfield dominance with his paltry 60 passes per match, and true to word, as soon as Xavi retired, Barca's stifling midfield dominance disappeared like the fart of a leprous witch. They have been blaming it on old age since Iniesta was 30.

I get your point. I remember vividly when van gaal wanted to try the 3-at-the-back formation at Man-United, it backfired spectacularly and everyone kept saying and believing that it couldn't work in England.

Conte should be appraised immensely for re-introducing and setting the current trend, there is no doubt that the formation is now so popular and generally accepted because of Chelsea's tremendous success and re-invigoration with it and that is much to the Don's credit.
