Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie is happy over the timely completion of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The vocal social media assistant of President Muhammadu Buhari insisted that shutting down the airport was the best option for the government. She stated that the safety of the passengers was paramount in the government's decision as the airport's runway was long overdue.

She, however, listed 5 lessons that could be learned from the successful renovation of the airport in due time. Read below:

1. Recall how the Nigerian Senate pulled all stops to frustrate the renovation of an expired Abuja Airport runway that posed safety risks for Nigerians and foreigners who use the airport.

2. It was a good thing that our team at the Aviation ministry, ignored all those who placed no value on the lives of the Abuja Airport users and who called for the non-closure of the Airport for life-saving renovations.

3. Thanks to the determination of the Buhari administration, we have a brand new and improved runway at the Abuja Airport, finished within budget and ahead of given time frame.

4. Thanks to President Buhari and his team, for ignoring naysayers who have no understanding of the importance of safeguarding lives and properties and went ahead with the work.

5. There are issues that should not be dragged into politics. Securing human lives is one of such issues. The role of the opposition is not to stand in the way of all projects that would benefit the people of Nigeria. They must learn to know when to oppose, when to advise and when to just keep quiet.
