Don't worry you all, I've got my space suit that will protect me from radiation when the nuclear world War III starts. I'm gonna capture every drops of H/A bombs under my lense. Next generation of human kind, won't suffer our fate of these poor quality pictures. |

Autochrome technology was in its early days throughout the First World War but a small group of photographers were pioneering its usage and there pictures are now being republished in a new book. Troops are pictured here in blue jackets and helmets watching the sky intently for missiles.

The First World War was the first time air warfare had played a role in combat and this picture of French warplane, Caudron G3, was captured by a photographer in 1914.

Women workers stack live shells destined for the trenches at the huge munitions factory at Chilwell in Nottinghamshire in 1917. A few months later, on 1 July, 1918, 250 workers were killed when eight tons of these TNT explosive at the factory blew up. Only 32 bodies could be positively identified.
