eezeribe:There is nothing obsolete about the NAF. They arent configured to fight the US or Russia. Their area of interest is west africa, the gulf of guinea, chad/Niger. For their area of interest j10 thunder aircraft which is a 4g aircraft, its attack helicopters and ÀTR42 air surveillance aircraft are more than sufficient. The NAF is doing exceptionally well and only a suicidal maniac would take them on within their area of interest. |

well i didn't know our pilots are capable of those conplex air maneuvers, am impressed. To those who are insulting our airforce, be patient, the new ultra modern planes are arriving dis year. And to be honest, from personal experience, i SAW THOSE PLANES YOU GUYS ARE MOCKING LEVELING A CONVOY OF BOKO BOYS TRYING TO GET ACCESS INTO MAIDUGURI DURING THE PEAK OF THIS INSURGENCY. so show some respect |

Those look like Chadian aircraft not Nigerian air force planes. I don't think BH has ever overrun a NAF base. ademusiwa3r:Our fleet of Jaguar jets, what a waste! ![]()

Zane2point4:acquisition of f16 would be an overkill, and waste of money considering the fact that Nigeria doesn't have any Iminent potential threat, and we have bad maintenance culture they should probably invest on the cheaper supersonic multi role aircrafts like JF_17 or j-10 .the alphajets are embarrassing but cheap |

Zane2point4:I felt weak at the sight of those jets... The one below will perform the work of 2 fighter jet bought for the airforce... Well, I won't put the blame on the them cuz sellers ain't interested in sharing their best items. |

Jiang:NAF and Others shows lack of intelligence gathering that is the most annoying thing. NIA is bother with stealing, no longer effective. |

EnkayDezign:Can u imagine... Maybe they are keeping it for foreign (trip) peace mission. BH don take the place of foreign peace keeping, they are yet to understand. |

greenpasture:Sorry there is nothing modern about your airforce. No country in africa is configured to fight the US, yet the airforces in many african countries are far more advanced. The likes of Egypt, algeria, south africa, uganda, angola will take Nigeria in west africa and win. |
| Re: Nigerian Air Force Displays New Aircraft (video) by Nobody: 9:08am On May 01, 2017 |
vantage001:Please provide details. For instance only egypt angola and south africa have the early warning capabilities of the type nigeria has by stitching together the radar coverage lf its 2 ATR's. So plane types and capabilities would be good. When it comes to aircraft. Do any of the countries you mention have above 4Ģ aircraft? SU series, Grippen are all 4Ģ aircraft similar to Nigerias J10 Thunder. Secondly the shell and name is not the issue; what avionics or missile range do these planes have. What is their travel distance fully loaded? Where will they refuel? How do they overfly other countries? Finally you talk sbout non west african countries in the main and imply a scenario in which they could take on nigeria outside of their sphere of influence. . Which african country has projected power outside its geographic region? ( excluding ÙÑ contribitions) the answer is NONE. Not even south africa or egypt. If you can show me one. Please do. Airforces prepare for likely scenarios not unlikely ones. The NAF is configured for maritime security in the gulf of guinea, insurgency and potential missions in Chad and Niger in the north and the west african region. It is fully capable of doing this. I dare say no other country in Africa has flown more missions between 1980 to present. Air combat is not won on simulators. Youve attempted to tilt the debate by introducing factors that are unlikely. Neither do you provide a factual basis for your claims. |

greenpasture:Nigeria has no J-10. Your best fighter is an F-7. Correct yourself first before i even decide to really answer your post. |
