Well,performing brilliantly would surely get him more supporters alas not enough to grant him victory.You know the zoning doesn't really improve the life of an average "northerner" or "southerner,as the case may be,but there are powerful individuals in the north or south that would love the presidency to go to a particular zone.within these people you may find a southerner clamouring that power must go to the north cos he probably knows he'll have more to gain from norh than having a southerner in charge etc etc....however all these doesn't matter in the case of GEJ.His political cluelessness is exceptional.How can your party chairman be working against you and you couldn't find out untill after elections?

His greatest undoing was Alienating obasanjo. Obasanjo could have found a solution to smoothen ruffled feathers up north.

I still believe he could have garnered votes up to that critical mass to get a runoff....or a slim victory
