IBB’S Structural adjustment was accompanied by drastic reduction of wages and salaries;

Massive widening of income between urban and rural areas, and

Reduced health, education, and social spending.

It was this decrease in spending on social programs that partly contributed to the often vociferous domestic unrest, such as Muslim-Christian riots in Kaduna State in March 1987, urban rioting in April 1988 in response to reduced petroleum subsidies, student-led violence in opposition to government economic policies in May and June 1989.

In short, the man laid the template for everything we are suffering today.

Don't know why I have a very soft spot for IBB, his health degenerated after he lost his wife. I read somewhere how he walked barefooted and hatless for hours after learning Buhari and his people were going to trump up charges on him ,his walking for hours was him contemplating on his chances,the next day he was president. Am talking of all the fine norther girls and mostly from rich hones. They look attractive,smile in point,usually don't talk and you feel they have been well brought up or there about. They are trained to show their good side out in public. When you get home with them or how they treat their men?you would be shocked. Forget that gentle face. No manners at all. No respect for inlaws and husbands brothers or family. Just clueless and self centered about life. Green snakes under green grass.
