A likely merger and conversion of assets of Arik Air and Aero Contractors is one of the options being considered by the Federal Government (FG) in the buildup to a new national carrier for the country.

The option, according to sources, is due to the alleged debt burden of the airlines. Besides, despite government’s recent intervention since their takeover by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the airlines are not promising in terms of operations and debt payment.

Would it still the same people that managed the defunct Nigeria airways that would also mange this one.

They also have to be independent. They should be free of any sort of interference in their operations especially from the senators and other individuals that contributed to the failure of the former

If Manage properly It will be a big boost. It's a big shame that a country tagged Giant of Africa cannot run a national carrier successful. I would really love to say Nigeria Airways One day.

Stop being pessimistic.... How can Nigeria move forward with attitude like this.

Dead on Arrival..Abeg its not by force to have National Carrier , instead the govt should concentrate on making the economy better so more people can patronise and grow the already existing airlines ..National carrier is just another excuse to employ a bunch of no good greedy looting northerners under the auspice of quota system to loot our national resources like they have done since independence to every thing they have touched

Another National carrier to be mismanaged!

Though it may sound unpatriotic but the National carrier stands a chance of being better managed if given to Ethiopian Airlines to manage than Nigerians, as it.is presently the best in Africa 5 years running.
