You are very right. In classing the F-series, the chasis system which is essentially the frame and bones of the vehicle is considered. Every part in the car holds onto this frame, making it extremely important for payload and hauling capabilities.

Because the F-150 is a light-duty truck, you’ll require a less complex and lighter chassis system than the F-250 and F-350 models. The Ford F-150 is built with a standard double-wishbone with a stamped lower control arm and coil-over shock for the front suspension. The rear suspension is a leaf spring and solid axle.

However, the F-250 and F-350 are capable of handling much heavier loads due to the more advanced suspensions. And V8 Engine being the standard benchmark.
