I recently acquired an Xbox One S 1TB. It came with FIFA 17 and Forza Horizon 3, which I updated last night.

I'm seeking recommendations for other games/apps/services to use on the device. And maybe online friends/communities to connect with.
Internet is not a problem (I have very fast, unlimited 100Mbps).

I have a voucher for Xbox Live Gold, but I haven't activated it yet. I'm not yet sure of it's validity period.

Since you're in the UK, you can get Dishonored 2 for £9.99 from GAME. If it's your cup of tea. XO is not really killing it with the exclusives, but I'd recommend Sunset Overdrive for harmless fun. As for online multiplayers, I spend way too much time with Overwatch (sorry dude, I'm on PS4). I hear Gears of War 4 was okay. Halo 5 seemed okay to me*, but the actual Halo fanboys at work find it weak. You could always go with CoD or BF, folks always seem to play those.

*bearing in mind that I actually don't play the franchise. I never did play it on my 360. Although, I did play the original Gears of War and that was fun.

How's Forza 3? I'm thinking of getting the One S for that game alone (prefer PES CM over FIFA). How do you find it?

I'm enjoying it. It's very interesting.

Some of the tips/instructions can get complicated, but I think it's because I'm not too interested or emotionally invested to learn everything. It's just a game I'm using to have some fun.

Oh, I totally forgot about the one thing that XO is killing PS4 on - backwards compatibility. You can play Xbox 360 games on your XO. Microsoft keeps growing their list of compatible games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games_compatible_with_Xbox_One

I've heard quite a lot about GTA V. It's very high rating, it's unprecedented commercial success, the sexism/violence controversies...

Thanks for the offer, but I'm generally not into such games as they can be addictive. I avoid games that are heavily demanding of my time & attention. Because of my busy work/personal schedule, I prefer games that I can play for a few hours and forget about for days.

Microsoft's 'Games with Gold' feature is awesome.

It kinda makes more financial sense, especially if you're not attached to any/most particular games/genres.
Instead of paying £20 - £50 on a game, I can just pay about £5/month and enjoy a few top quality games for free (plus all the other Live Gold benefits: eg Twitch streaming)

I installed 'Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris' and spent a day playing it. Not bad. Last time I played Tombraider game was more than 10 years ago (on PC), and I didn't finish it although I went quite far.
