sukkot: you didn't answer the question Sukkot. |
Re: Peckham: The Ajegunle Of London by sukkot: 8:17am On Jun 04, 2017 |
Joavid:i still submit that if you are past 19 you cant genuinely acquire a foreign accent. its all about the larynx. when you speak it vibrates at a certain frequency and that frequency is what shapes the voice box. different languages have different frequency. now this larynx is formed and molded and shaped by your voice when you are born till like the age of 14-17. once you pass that age it is fully solidified and the accent that solidified it is the only accent you will be able to genuinely speak with. you can fake other accents but that original accent will always sneak out cuz your larynx is molded to the frequency of that accent you had in your formative years. 1 Like 1 Share |

I know it's not although the topic alluded it to a popular slum in Lagos. I just said that to rile him up lol. OkoNDOoBo: |

Fabulocity:the topic was about comparison of lifestyles of Nigerians in peckham to that of ajegunle . the write up only exposes way of life of Nigerians in peckham not likening peckham to ajegunle on terms of infrastructure, social amenities, security or economic viability. |

sukkot: You exaggerate. His accent isn't as bad as a lot of people I know from the video link you sent. PS- I am a big NBA fan and I took notice of your name when you once mentioned the 2000 SlamDunk contest. Allen Iverson was the best player I ever watched. Vince Carter was my favourite to watch and you probably know why. 2 Likes 1 Share |

GeneralOjukwu:lol that was a good link. his accent is normally very terrible, am telling ya bro lol. i mean for having spent 40 years in that country since the age of 17 you would think he would have improved right ? yeah i was in toronto for that 2000 slam dunk when vince carter went nuts. exhilarating moment. yeah i dont rate allen iverson. he was good but he was a ball hog. he does not know how to play team basketball |

sukkot: On Olajuwon....well after 4 decades and interactions with whites, he should have been able to mimick foreign accents. People around me mock how thick my accent is . I just can't fake it. It's far far worse than Hakeem's. Iverson didn't have "TEAM" in his dictionary but pound-for-pound, inch-for- inch, hardly would you see a better all round player. I am an inch taller than he is, but I can't imagine facing 7footers the way he did ...fearlessly. That was a golden age in basketball with the elite guards like Stockton,Payton & Kidd. 1 Like |

GeneralOjukwu:oh yeah i met payton and stockton and have their autographs on my wallet. that was definitely the golden era. hey the accent aint no biggie bro so long as people can understand what you are saying. nothing worse than a fake accent lol. just keep it the way it is. |
