What mums go thru.. Don't worry she will b ok when she wakes up..Ours was yesterday it wasn't funny. She couldn't suck because of pain.. She cried till she slept off.. She started having temp in d evening.. To even pick her up na wahala for fear of touching the injected site.. But today she's back to her normal self playing and speaking gibberish.

My Lo had stuffed nose and couldn't suck well so I took him to the hospital and the doctor prescribed augumentin ant vit c and I told her that I will not give augumentin cos I gave home after circumcision and dis is just five weeks after that I don't like antibiotics myself let alone for my baby that she should give me an alternative and guess what, she said I should buy methyl crystal and put in her bathing water for 7days. So I bought it on my way home and used it that evening as soon as I purred the water on his head he started spitting catarrh and also it started coming out from his nose and I used mucus extractor to remove the rest from his nose. And later in the night I put some of the crystals in hot water and placed it somewhere close to the bed my sister catarrh and cough has reduced drastically.

So she knew the appropriate remedy...Education is good o

Ndo. Lol. Pcm every six hours. If she seems too hot tepid sponge baths works. If you have a thermometer check periodically. Anything within 37 range is fine

It was 38.1 when I made my last post but I gave her paracetamol and it went way down, now she's getting hot again and it's 37.7. I'd def try the tepid sponge tingy (after I google it ) don't want her getting too hot.

Sabi mamas in the house pls oh my exclusively breast fed son has been struggling to poop for the last 2days now and he passes out heavy gas all the time like hubby will call him the master blaster. I even opened his anus and put rub inside yet he still refuse to poop and he pushes like someone in labour. Though I have not taken any fruits for the last 2days too sha. Please don't put anything in your baby's bum again I beg you . Ebf babies can go a whole week without pooing. Passing smelly gas is normal . It's because of what you are eating and passing on to him. Increase you intake of fruits and reduce beans,milk.

Doctors recommend that babies sleep on their back because of SIDs . It is said to be unsafe, if you decide to lie the baby on the belly you must sit there beside the baby and be checking periodically. If you feel your baby is not sleeping well you can Google swaddling and do that instead

My two weeks old and some days baby would not just sleep in the night. Like starting from 10pm till like 4am.....he won't sleep, he would be crying. When I breastfed him, he would do as if he is sleeping but once I put him to bed, he start to cry . I can rock him for hours. He won't blink an eye. He can breastfeed like 2 hours at a go.
Its frustrating. I hope someone can relate with what I'm saying. Please what can I do.
I thought new born will just eat and sleep.
And also the way his nose sounds like someone that has catarrh but nothing is coming out from the nose oooo.
I need help. HELP A IRST TIME MUM

This is what other mamas have been calling vigilante. It will soon pass just hang in there. Babies can't talk so for everything it's crying. You just have to try everything . Check their diaper, make sure they are not too hot or too cold, rock them as well as feed them . With time you will be able to understand your baby better and the crying will reduce. Well done

Do you have pko (palm kernel oil)? I apply Pko on my DD's body after administering paracetamol, it helps to bring her temp down.
I know the weather is cold, if possible close your windows, remove her clothes and leave her on diaper only.

MIL just said if the fever doesn't go down soon she'd apply palm kernel oil, she knows I hate it cuz it stains clothes but this time I didn't even argue. Anything to pursue fever

Don't worry. The first one is the scariest. It will fluctuate like that till it breaks. Make sure the water isn't cold oh. Lukewarm water is fine. Shebi she's eating well?

My son was like that. He will sleep all day and will be awake all night and sleep again by 4am.
All I can advise is that you adjust to his sleep schedule cos there's nothing you can do about it.
Sleep during the day so you can be alert at night.

Did you note the time you administered the first dose of paracetamol?

You should have been told at the hospital to administer the paracetamol every 4 or 6 hours. Check the instructions on the leaflet and administer another dose based on the instructions.

High temperature in babies should be taken very seriously and anything should be done to avoid it.

Are you sure you are lactating properly? The quantity of breast milk might be insufficient for him. If he's hungry, he won't sleep.

Secondly, do not overdress him. Stop wearing woollen hat or too many layers of cloth with shawl. Check to make sure his cot is comfortable and make sure the room isn't too hot.

You should do a root cause analysis to see what could have triggered the stooling.

Sterilise all his cutleries, bottles, etc with boiling hot water. Boil properly all his drinking/cooking water.

Make sure all his meals are prepared from scratch and properly cooked.

If you are feeding him pap or Tom brown, stop it for now and see if there's any improvement.

Since my baby started this Tom brown, her poop is new extremely so strong, sometimes it comes out like stone, i give her water before and after every feed, though sometimes she hardly drinks after feeding.also, She take 120ml of the Tom brown 2-3 times a day, i think its too small, the highest she has eaten is 150ml, dunno how to increase her appetite, also heard that i should give her vitamin D now DAT she has started semi-solid.

You need to introduce varied puréed meals to your baby's diet.

Tom brown thrice a day is too much. You are basically feeding her just carbs hence the strong poop.

You need to introduce vegetables(carrots, green peas, red ball peppers, etc), fruits (bananas, apples, etc) protein (chicken, fish,beef),less complex and more beneficial foods that aid in brain development like sweet potatoes.

Several recipes have been shared here and you can have a look at alphahandmaiden's blog.

There's really no need for the specific vitamin D supplement. If you want to introduce a supplement then go for one that has other vitamins and calcium all included (multivitamin).

I took him to the hospital on the 4th because of the stooling and he was running temperatures.


the doctor examined him and said his gum is swollen that's the upper part (he already has two teeth down) and also his throat is swollen she then said I should go for test.

his blood sample was collected, it revealed he has malaria.

malaria syrup, antibiotics, paracetamol, ORS and one other syrup was prescribed

but he is still stooling and he's refusing to eat all he want is breast milk. I don't know what else to do
