Fayose must respect the traditionalists and leave their tree for them. That is their place of worship and you must leave it for them.
For those people screaming Africa this Africa that, had been it is a Mosque/Church that is blocking the dualization of same road am sure you won't say so.

Respect for all religion.
Shame unto your entire generation, you will come later and spew nonsense from your stin*y h*le in your mouth that he is not doing any work.

We idolize a lot of barbaric and archaic beliefs in Africa. Shameful how people reject infrastructural development all in the name of believing one tree brings Goodluck and it's sacred.
Africa which way forward
By declaring some forests and trees sacred, our forefathers were able to conserve biodiversity, with its intricate species without a break of sweat. Something we are preaching, clamouring for and spending a lot to achieve today.

So get knowledge, and in your getting, get understanding. Our people were/are not silly.

bros no mind me, that town hasn't smelled anything called civilization in years, the only thing it boasts of is a college of education, infact take the whole state as a case study, aside the higher institutions, and private pry/sec schools, all its filled with are gas stations,so what's the fuss about a supposed sacred tree!
I understand but be that as it may, the rights of the traditionalists also are to be respected..

Trees are life givers, but if it is getting in the way of road construction that will obviously bring more light to the people,it has to go.

People should be encouraged to plant trees on the right places, instead of cutting them down senselessly like they doing in nigeria today.

Saw it first hand yesterday. They even opened the bowels of a goat and displayed it as sacrifice on raised sand a few meters from the 'sacred tree' while the elders sat around and under the tree as the picture depicts.
I however suggest that Ekiti State govt should dialog with the 'elders'
They should know that the road is a yes, yes while the Elders should tell the govt what is required to move their shrine off to somewhere else. That would be a win-win and face saving for all.
Re: Traditionalists Stop Governor Fayose From Cutting Down A Sacred Tree (Photo) by GuntersChain(m): 10:37am On Jun 07, 2017
They should look for a way to bypass the tree. They have the right to there own belief system.

Okay, just looked. It's a young tree. Oshoko should transplant it to their shrine for them.
But we don't have the technology to handle it in Nigeria.

pls look at my moniker very well, WHITEBEARD has never accused Islam of violence before, cause I have met with various Islamist, and I have had discussions with them, enough to conclude that Islam is not a religion of violence, it just people whose blood are itching for violence that use islam as a cover.

Thank you.

The problem with african traditions is that people allow them to hold them down, instead of adapting them and moving on with the time. Traditions are ways of life of a people in their own time that could be passed on to the nest generation if they are relevant.,when that shrine was located there at the time of the ancestors there were no cars or needs for roads, but now there are motor vehicles and there are needs for facilities to accomodate them.

In 2017 the "most educated" tribe are demostrating against cutting down a "sacred" tree, what an irony.
Is the most educated tribe in Nigeria 100% educated?
The fact is that even though the Yoruba ethnic group is the most educated in Nigeria,it does not rule out a percentage of uneducated and unenlightened few.
You type as if you are dead neck up.

Round-about construction is another good solution however there are other factors involved with that:
1- more land towards, at and after the round-about
2- most importantly, more money.

Therefore other options are needed to be on the negotiation table:
- Transplant comes back in.
- Offer money (for rituals to appease... ) and cut the tree
- Just cut the tree

Daboomb:
Your foolishness is legendary!

'

What stops the Government from constructing a ROUNDABOUT, around the Tree or dont express Roads also have intersection roundabouts?
Must we cut down everything, just to build another?

Its not rocket Science, but people like Fayose dont have brain to even use at all.

BTW: Why did he not cut it down immediately, with all the Police he took to the place?
Fear don catch leader of Biafra ni?
grin grin
