nemesis2u:You need steel cojones to handle a reckless in AT ops! To be in an unprotected softskin knowing they're often protected by dismounts and have their own .50s and even 7.62 GPMGs isn't for everyone! Especially knowing your rate of fire is limited to manual loading. |

bidexiii:The Russians also used logs in the final battle of Berlin to protect against the Panzerschreck,IIRC. I told nemesis2u earlier these Moro rebels aren't normal people. Imo there's smth in their dna. When the US invaded the Phils in 1899 they realised their .38 revolvers and double barrel shotguns were useless against martyr hungry Moro fighters. In response the pump action Winchester 97 and .45 1911 were developed. They started fighting the Spanish in the 1520s and haven't stopped fighting. |

Nemesis2u,been meaning to ask:you guys are global not regional players. Why doesn't India have a Marine corps;at least a brigade? You need an amphibious RDF. China has already deployed marines in Djibouti. |

kikuyu1:bro, global outreach is directly proportional to the dollars u can spend, India has none ![]() having Marine corps means u have global ambitions which India does not have at the moment ,India has no desire so far for any expeditionary forays at least outside Indian ocean. instead India has regular battalions of amphibious brigades of IA on rotation to counter its current threats. due to lack of money India is even struggling to raise 2 mountain strike corps for last 10 years or more. raising new corps is a very costly affair , 1 full equipped mountain corp costs 10-12 billion dollars and takes 10 years at the least. 1 corp = 90000 troops. |

nemesis2u:Yes,but any country without the ability to project force will never be taken seriously. That's just the way the world works! Remember, the Yazidi issue in 2014 when ISIL attacked your cousins in N Iraq? With a proper IMC you could've chosen to protect them with arms or evacuate them all in a timely manner. Yes,I know you're working on the MSC,a major major task but really with your 2 tn $ GDP and a def budget of 53 bn$ you can't find 1.5bn$ a year to establish an embryonic IMC? Especially now that you've begun construction of 4 LDPs? The Indian Navy has planned four 20000-30000 ton LPD for induction in the next decade. India’s private manufacturers Reliance Defense and Engineering Limited (RDEL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) have cleared the financial and technical tests and have submitted commercial bids to the Indian defense ministry. L&T has a tie-up with Navantia of Spain and RDEL with DCNS of France.http://defensenews-alert..co.ke/2017/05/construction-order-for-4-lpds-will.html Actually, come to think of it,these are steps to establish a true IMC,though your defmin Arun Jaitley and the top generals know more than me.

copy pasting an article................... The world's first hybrid "aeroboat" capable of travelling on land, water, snow and sand that has been built by an Indo-Russian joint venture was unveiled in Moscow on Tuesday at a start-ups event organised by Russia's state-run Skolkovo Foundation. The aeroboat is designed to access difficult terrain, such as flooded or marshy areas where the use of regular boats is made impossible because of shallow water, patches of dry land or by marine vegetation. It has been designed by IIAAT Holding, a joint venture between the International Institute for Advanced Aerospace Technologies and Indian firm Millennium Aerodynamics. The aeroboat is on demonstration in and around a pond in the two-day Startup Village annual event in Moscow for technology entrepreneurs and investors organised by Russia's biggest innovation fund the Skolkovo Foundation. While hovercrafts on average move at around 45-50 km per hour on water, aeroboats are capable of going at around 150 km or more, he said. "The Aeroboat is also more robust than hovercrafts, and with estimated maintenance costs of $400-$600 per year, is cheaper to maintain and fuel," Sharan said. He pointed out that it runs on a "hybrid" engine, meaning it can run on either petrol or electricity, enabling users to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency. According to the makers, with room for 10 passengers and one crew member, the 6.5-metre-long aeroboat can handle steep slopes and embankments, and does not require any marine infrastructure such as jetties, since it is amphibious. "Hovercrafts work on static air-cushion, whereas aeroboats work on dynamic air-cushion. This feature gives aeroboats a huge advantage in terms of speed and manoeuvrability," he said. "It's possible to use hovercrafts, but they are very expensive to operate and also have speed limitations. Our amphibious aeroboats can provide high-speed year-round navigation, even when bodies of water are frozen like in Russia," he added.
