''Who is your dad'' he replied K.C harshly.

''am sorry dad, i never intended for all this to happen'' he said with his head bowed as if in pain.

''why, how and when did you get this disease'' his dad said with a grim look.

''Dad, am confused here, I didn't know i had Chronic chlamydia until today, am sorry dad'' K.C apologized keeping a straight face.

''Stop calling me dad, Do you know the implication of what you...what just happened, Election is around the corner, if this gets to all those hungry blogger then am doomed, the effect is going to be grievious'' His dad said gruffly.

''Dad, am sorry'' K.C repeated not knowing whatelse to say, he never expected his dad to show up, he was expecting his twin sister.

''Kelechi do you realize the gravity of what you just did'' His dad asked in a less harsh tone.

''dad, am so sor..'' he stopped halfway when his sister came in unannounced, under-dressed, she look just like alice in the rabbit hole.

Without saying a word to anyone, she rushed to Mirabel's side and drew her into warm embrace, petting and whispering soothing words to her.

Mirabel began sobbing and his sister reached for a handkerchief and began to wipe the tears mixed with mascara off her face.


''Dad, what should we do now'' Chidiebere asked when they were all sitted, everyone's face looked sullen.

''Ask your brother'' Her dad replied almost immediately.

''Dad, i said am sorry'' K.C said firmly.

His dad gave him a warning look and turned to Mirabel who was sitting with her head on Chidiebere's shoulder.

''My daughter. Let's sort things out, You both can go ahead and get married next week, while your dad and I look for a way out of this mess that he has put us'' K.C dad said and gave him a scornful look which made him wince.

''With all due respect sir, I can't go ahead with this wedding, am just twenty-six, and i want to have my own babies soon and clearly this bed-hopper you have as a son can't give me that cos he is impotent'' Mirable finished with a grimace.

The insult hit K.C hard.

''Who is she to judge me when she is no saint'' K.C thought.

He kept his thought to himself and turned to his dad with a look that could melt even a stone heart.

''Dad, i still love her, please help me plead with her'' he said and smiled inwardly, he had no idea he was this good an actor.

''My daughter pleas...''

She cut in ''Sir i have made my decision no going back, he should have learned to keep his balls and his hormones under control, if he knew he wanted to marry a decent girl like me'' she said with tears in her eyes and K.C flinched, he was momentarily taken aback by her words.

''Decent'' he thought.

''Even the devil is forming innocence'' he muttered incoherently.

''K.C will you go down on your knees and apologize to her for all this emotional trauma!'' His dad said to him stridently.


K.C squirmed, kneeling down for Mirabel, infront of his dad is way over the top, there's no way he would do that.

''Dad, how did you get here'' he asked instead.

''I called dad and told him everything you said and luckily he was around here, that is why he got here before me'' Chidiebere explained casting an apologitic look at K.C.

''Dad, it's better we let Mirabel cool down and let the anger subside and when she is in a better frame of mind, we will discuss all this over again'' Chidiebere suggested.

''Sorry to say, but my decison has crossed it rubicon, There is no going back, wedding cancelled!'' she said firmly.

''Kelechi, I have an apointment and you better look for a way to get her to change her mind, because i can't loose this upcoming gubernatorial election due to your inability to keep off from anything that wears skirt'' His dad said and scowled at him before storming out obviously upset with the incidence.

''am going too, bye Chidiebere'' Mirabel said carrying her bag and tucking all the scattered contents which spilled out earlier when she was angrily groping for the test results.

''Princess, Let me see you out'' Chidebere stood up and left with Mirabel, while K.C sat with his head bowed.

He raised his head, when the door closed behind him and began to grin and laugh so hard that his stomach threatened to burst open.

He threw his hand triumphantly in the air and screamed ''Yessss''

When he was sure that they couldn't hear him, he went through his Music List and began dancing and singing along ''Chidinma's If no be God''

''Baba God na you biko, I throw way salute give you o'' he continued singing happily until he heard his sister's footstep and immediately he coordinated himself and sat down just the way she left him.

''K. Am sorry about the disease, I will be back later, My husband just called me that my son is crying and screaming ''Momma'' they said he has refused to be placated'' she said picking her handbag.

''Alright bye'' he said in a depressed tone with his hand under his jaw.
