If you are an employee you should be smart not to access social media on a company computer. Most employers are able to access and track anything you do on a company computer. This can damage not only your employment status but your reputation. For safety reasons, employers should not access any personal data or enter personal passwords on any workplace owned internet device.
Sharing personal information online while at work is not a good idea. You do not want your employer to see online social media activity during working hours. Another concern is that social media is a way to vent. Employees should be aware of posting any negative comments about your employer or customers. When social media access is immediately available at work, some employees may vent without taking the time to think about what they are posting.

It depends on the nature of the job. From my perspective as an employer, my staff are allowed to access their social media platforms solely to advertise our real estate services, and as such, I cant restrict them to doing just that. As far as its not detrimential to my company, I'm fine with it.

Yes of Course. They can do that during their break time, its good to be current at every point in time. So it is advisable as far as it does not correlate with their working Hours.

If you're using the company's internet, a no-no unless you're that EFCC person ( a social media strategist) or rather if that is what you were employed to do

Yes during, their lunch break periods and toilet breaks...I use social media in working with my colleagues.

Then again it could be work related, in my case we use Slack and Facebook Work.

Yes,so long as it is doesn't affect your overall productivity, so hours in the day can be very slow

I work with first bank and i access social media

In my company, you cannot access your social media from your work station even if you try. You can only access our company's website and social media where all your work is delegated, done and reported.

But there is a work station with a fress-access computer for every department with the label "CAFE" where staffs can randomly go to "unwind". All open sites are accessible on this "CAFE computer". Most people "unwind" with their phones though. When my mobile data is low, the cafe is where I access and curze on NL

But the R&.D department is highly secluded, they can only access the intranet there. Other non R&.D staff will even need a pass to get their section.

But, I think it's dependent on the organisation. Those over serious work places block social media sites from being assessed on the Company's system.

Others don't even send as long as you maintain a certain standard of productivity...

You can regulate it's use but I think a full ban would be counter-productive
