Shooting took place at Congressional baseball practice. Republican and Majority Whip S. Scalise hit. Other staffers hit. Gunman allegedly used a rifle and shot up to 50-100 bullets at the congressmen.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and a congressional aide were shot by a rifle-wielding gunman who sprayed a hail of bullets at a GOP baseball practice in Virginia Wednesday morning, before U.S. Capitol Police took the gunman down.

Scalise was "badly injured," according to a tweet from President Trump, but expected to recover. A spokesperson from Scalise said he was "stable" and undergoing surgery after being shot in the hip. Five people were "transported medically" from the scene, Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown said. It appeared that included Scalise, a congressional aide, the gunman and two law enforcement officers -- one of whom was hit by fragments.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Fox News: "We were like sitting ducks."

"Without the Capitol Hill police it would have been a massacre," Paul said, describing the scene as "sort of a killing field."


The gunman was shot by Capitol Police and Alexandria Police, apprehended and taken to the hospital, officials said. Sen. Mike Lee told Fox News, however, the gunman was killed. The incident occurred at Simpson Field in Alexandria, about 10 miles from Washington D.C

James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old Illinois man, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting at the Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, that left House Majority WHIP Steve Scalise and others injured.

According to witnesses, James T. Hodgkinson fired dozens, if not hundreds of shots, from the third base dugout at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia, as the group was at batting practice around 7 AM EST. NAME began firing after asking the group if they were ‘Democrats or Republicans’.

James T. Hodgkinson was eventually subdued down by Capitol Police officers who were accompanying Scalise and was brought to a hospital for treatment.

so true, the media houses are divided along party lines.

In my opinion, there is no great politicians in america of today.
America became superpower because of excellent efforts of their forefathers, but today politicians could not add values to their country.

Their politicians just shout and jump around and a lot of arguing on issues without the aim of achieving any tangible thing.

My prayer is for Amerika to plunge into a civil war ASAP - the type she's been instigating in foreign Countries all over the globe, so that I can enter my living room, switch on my North Korean-made fan and my Iraqi TV, lie down on my Syrian couch with my head carefully placed on my Libyan throw-pillow, light my Cuban cigar, pour a drink of Russian vodka into my made-in-Nigeria glass cup - and then watching the exhilarating news live on Iranian Press TV
